What is racist about any of that?

Seriously?
Coming from you nothing is serious, you fake piece of crap. Go make yourself more worthless and join Antifa.
More likely to join BLM because I am not racist, you gnumachi.

really is amazing how people prioritize.
Igy thinks that he is somehow in the right to fight for Aunt Jemima pancake syrup and to boycott companies that support BLM.
What is that? Pancake syrup? THAT's why you boycott? You are against companies that want to help end Jim Crow?
Igy I know you have worked with ethnic minorities more than any of us but come on - do you think your head is on straight here?
Join the rest of the white guilt ridden losers that do zero for minorities. All talk, that is all you have ever been. Big blow hard of hot smelly air. You should register another handle that would be perfect for you: Fartman.

I’ve done more for minorities in one day than you have done in your entire life. You and your wife deserve each other.

On the protest line and handing out government checks (in your profession). :-)

agip, it is just silly. I don’t have an ounce of racist blood and never thought anything negative racist or otherwise about Aunt Jemima syrup. Boise High School mascot was the Braves, so someone says that is racist so they change it to Brave. Really? Silly in my view. What is the end point? This nonsense is a distraction from policy and actions that really help people.
Corporation have largely sold out to BLM in fear of being called racist organizations. Profit only, they could care less about minorities in the inner city. Especially tech companies. They have whitey on the run. The BLM manifesto reads more communist than anything I have seen in decades. Look at the recent destruction in life and property tied to this organization.
https://blacklivesmatter.com/what-we-believe/Meanwhile in liberally run inner cities the Black community suffers from graft and corruption for decades. BLM is an attempt to cover up for years of liberal neglect and taking advantage of minorities of all colors. And thankfully many are on to it. Ask the people in Black communities if they want to defund the police. Instead a bunch of white anarchists that are orchestrating this. Look at your own city. Interestingly, Detroit is going the opposite direction.
You are a good person, and I hope it all gets sorted out, I really do. But none of this BLM, defund police, and faux symbolism makes sense to me.
Have a good weekend, and run.
Igy
I hear you
I wrote too meanly - I apologize and retract.
But I would say that there is no 'black lives matter' document that is believed in and supported by the protesters. I'm sure not one in 100,000 has read what you posted.
In the end virtually every race riot in the last 100 years or so has been a reaction against police brutality against Blacks and this is the same thing. It's not fair to say it is anything else.
That said,I know that probably no one on these boards has helped as many ethnic minority young people as you have and I should not have questioned you in that manner.
And I will go run. I'm recovered from some injuries and am back to 40 mpw with 1 or 2 workouts. Hope you are well too.

Nope. Coaching, teaching, and living. Too bad you think so little of us.

How pathetic. Someone doesn’t conform to your leftist views so you have to attack them as racist. Such a weak and little man.
This shows what little character you possess.
Yeah, I know ... you see your favorite politicians do it and your favorite hosts on MSNBC ... but they are pathetic and so are you.

If you don’t see that as racist, then you are as much a part of the problem as Igy is.

Of course throwing out that term is an attempt to silence those that challenge this nonsense. Fortunately there are people, among them numerous Blacks, that refuse to cower to mob intimidation.
On a related topic of “racist” brand logos. Why is the Air Jordan logo on basketball sneakers not racist? One could argue it promotes a ghetto image. Perhaps far more damaging to Blacks than Aunt Jemima.

You’re not helping yourself. Do yourself a favor and stick to talking about investments. You’re not right about that either, but at least your point of view is not offensive.

Fortunately I could careless about whether I offend you. I am actually glad to do it, since I consider you to be one of the biggest jerks on LRC.
Igy, i am going to tell you something i got in a workplace training session over twenty-five years ago. It involved training employees to be more racially sensitive and unbiased.
At that time, acceptable terminology for African Americans changed and i believe the term 'colored' had fallen into disfavor. The presenter was making the point that there are many terms that might be in circulation but would be considered inappropriate. I wanted to know what they were. I wanted the list, served up, put on the table, and then i would agree to not use them anymore. I was asking the presenter where could i find such a list. He said there wasn't one. And furthermore, the list might be different for different people - one person might find a term offensive even if it was widely used.
I was dumbfounded.
How could i avoid using such terms if they couldn't even tell me what was on the list or at least identify a particular term in advance of using it?
So i asked him how could i know not to use a particular term. His answer was if the person you are interacting with finds it offensive. I asked him how would i know if it offends someone, since some people find some things offensive and others do not. He said that some people may just be offended by something so if anyone doesn't want a term or phrase being used, you shouldn't use it.
So I said that anything could be offensive if someone says so. He plainly indicated yes and went on with the presentation.
That stuck with me because it seemed so outlandish. But that's the line in the sand, as hard as it may be to accept.
So, point being, if a group of people, or even a few people in that group, find the Aunt Jemima image offensive, we respect their right and we don't continue offending them. That;s the way it works, at least as has been explained to me. And i can live with that.
Seattle,
OK, but who really made the decision that Aunt Jemima was offensive? I think often times it is not even a person of color, and if so, why not Air Jordan? I find it offensive that someone would call me racist because out of a sense of nostalgia my wife bought some pancake syrup from a soon discontinued brand. Her father incidentally retired as a junior high history teacher in Watts. As a WW II Veteran he ran their youth ROTC program.
I am old enough to have seen true racism. Things that I have seen, heard, and I can’t even now post here. That is too bad since it would be beneficial, because it would be instructional.
We have come a long way in my soon to be 70 years. I don’t buy into mass “institutional racism.” Nor do I believe that the killing of a man, however despicable, justifies more deaths and the destruction of private property. The Black Lives Matter movement has a political agenda that has little to do with improving the inner cities. Defunded the police is one. Down playing the nuclear family is another. Why are white people making this decision? Why not have the people in these communities involved? My sense is that is not the goal. Progress now must come from communities themself, not from more of the same failed policies, or from radical half baked ideas doomed to failure.
