I assume this is a reference to GOI. Given his penchant for following and defending the likes of failures like Hussman, Stockman, ZeroHedge, et. al., it certainly is a fitting descriptor.
A lot of people are pretty sarcastic with GOI. Maybe in part he brings it on himself, but the underlying message he’s been trying to get across is sound. And like he is prone to project and overinterpret, so too are ,ost of his detractors twisting his message to make more if it than what he’s been saying. As best I can tell, he’s trying to caution people to take appropriate action to de-risk their portfolios to the extent they need to, given the virtual certainty that the market will plunge once again, as it has every other time equities prices have become overheated. I can say I’m scared as hell. Thankfully for me my risk tolerance is relatively high, given my age and other sources of income. But some people, no doubt including some of the doubters in this thread, are due to lose their shirts, sometime probably in the next one to ten years.
I don't think there is anyone here who doubts the market will eventually turn south. We all know and accept that. But the market has been doing quite well for nearly a decade and will do so again following the next crash. GOI not only refuses to see the obvious benefits of having been invested in the market, he also continually provides articles and tweets from people who have been investment failures as if their word is gospel.
I have no problem with posters providing differing viewpoints. I do have a problem with someone who belittles and demeans those who provide such opinions.

Look who’s talking, as if you are a bastion of virtue. Or have anything relevant to say other than the daily action of the market. If so, say so.

Another question avoided by Igy. Can we stop now with the unsubstantiated claims and baseless accusations?

Sometimes it takes ten or more years.

Agreed. But history tells us it will recover and set new record highs.

You know perfectly well your harrassment. Well that is why I act in kind to your rather childish Go Pats! reprieve. I picture you as some loser prowling the streets of Boston in a Brady jersey.

Very funny.

The only question is why is an asumed adult so immature? And that is rather sad and not very funny.

this all seems reasonable and hard to argue. But what you hand he both overlook is that he called "cash is king" over three years ago and hasn't changed his tune in the interim.
At what point do you say you were wrong?
After a year? After two? After the market has gone up about 38% since then?
Well, all of these have occurred except his market free-fall.
Trading is not static. A buy can be undone. It's called a sell.
Of course, prepare for a possible downturn. That almost goes without saying.
His strategy, while not unreasonable, points to the risk of being appreciably out of the market for long. I know, i know, he will say he hasn't been out of the market. But frankly this sounds like he's talking out of both sides of his mouth. If he hasn't been fundamentally long equities, then take that for what it is.
Seattle,
That is a false misleading interpretation of what I said.
I would expect better of you.
