Both guys were basically injured.
Cabral - Lyme disease

So why did they both make major moves just now?

Cabral - training by himself thousands of miles from everyone he knows
Andrews - training by himself while his coach is off coaching a D1 team

And, God willing, I never will.
I'm not sure where you're from, but Bellingham is a wonderful, gorgeous place. Please never visit, I'm guessing you'd stink it up. -non WA resident

I'm from New Jersey, so I know a thing or two about gorgeous places that I haven't stunk up.
Mistake? Are you kidding me? Gags is a great coach. I haven't stopped wondering if Symmonds had stayed/moved when Gags started coaching again if his medal would be gold.

Cabral with that 3:56 mile should be up there soon. Give him some time to recuperate from the awful Pacific northwest, eat a decent bagel or two, and he should be back on his game.
Would you explain the bagel remark? I'm trying to decide if you're very clever or just fell backward into a pretty funny inside joke.

NJNY has to be one of, if not THE best collective 800m groups in the country with Rutt, Andrews, Brown, and Gagnon.
You'd think to make a claim of being THE best collective group in the country that at least one of their runners would have made the finals of the Olympic Trials in 2012 or USA Outdoors in 2013.
No group can come close to Rowland's OTC Elite, with 3 runners (Symmonds, Greer, and Mulder) having been in the top 6 the last 2 years.
well rutt made the final this year and gagnon was the 1st guy out. added alot of new runners will have 5-8 under 1:46 this year
I tried to start a thread about Andrews joining Rowland's group awhile ago but the moderators objected to it for some reason. I think it would be an incredible choice for the young man...if he didn't run for Adidas. Too bad he signed with those stripes, otherwise he'd be able to train alongside a WC silver medalist who also happens to be a strength-based 800m guy (assuming Rowland would take him on).
Oh well; I guess we'll see how the young man fares in his hometown for the next few years.
