This message board drags down the sport. Very little good or positive is discussed here any more, just criticism and running down people you have a beef with.

But they will not change the format, and not for any ideological reason as stated numerous times, but simply because they get more visits to the site this way and thus more advertisement revenues. It is a gossip and TMZ message board, not to promote the sport but to gossip and get as many visitors as possible.

Good point there, but good luck with it. I said as much in another thread today (and yesterday) and the posts were deleted.

Sadly, this is not the same as saying "We are not using any performance enhancing drugs."

Since this topic will continue to be the focus of our sport I would like to quote some more words from Professor Noakes.I don't watch track and field anymore because I don't believe the results.When I see guys running 9.7 for the 100m,its a joke.They are 9.9 runners using steroids.It just astonishes me people take them seriously.But maybe a guy 30 years younger than me may see it differently.The price of all this,the niave might suspect,will be simply the cost of the drugs.Not so.It will be a disaster for the athletes because these drugs do have medical consequences.But it will mean whole societies will be on drugs because in one sense,we are all underperforming.We look better with these drugs,we can run faster,cycle further.But these drugs will mean those taking them at the top of their sports wont have long lives.

Society has to decide which way it wants to go forward.

I want to see people run fast! Who cars it they die down the road. Anyone here remember Richard Chelimo? No one cares he died young. But people remeber he ran fast. Pre was most likely on alcohol that cost him his life. but he is immortalized. GIVE ME FAST TIMES AND MORE DRUGS

Ask Rodgers and Shorter if they think he was using PED's in the 80's. They will let you know.

He is a good guy. But, many runners who ran against him knew he was cheating. And, many runners today know that if you get involved with him, you will get faster. Just don't ask how.

Varying levels of talent and training and maybe drugs. i'd say rupp has been training really well his entire life with sound principles and hasn't changed coaches his entire life. he has been really consistent. maybe in the last 6 years he starts to microdose with stuff, taking thyroid. why can't he beat guys from previous eras who took some drugs but didn't have the training he has done? how is that so suspect?

bekele could probably run sub 13 on like 60-70 clean miles a week...and some dopers haven't run sub 13 on 100 miles a week...if you started doping it's not guaranteed that you would run sub 13... so does that mean bekele has to be on drugs because he's run faster than terrible runners on dope?

it doesn't have to be bekele it can be me vs you for all i care. you cant just condemn people ONLY because they ran faster or as fast as a few crappy dopers.

bob kennedy is pretty comparable to rupp and he ran in the dope era against geb and komen and tergat
