In other words, what is the next event whose record will be broken? Kiprop in the 1500 maybe?

The next distance WR to be broken will be the marathon.
Yeah that's true, although I don't know about Mo's chances in breaking any records
Definitely the 100. People are consistently within a half second of it.
600m or maybe the 300m. On the roads, 25 km. look at ther rarely raced distances.
this and then the mile because it is rarely contested.
Mo will break no records, Kiprop can perhaps do it but I think
he will fall short.
25K perhaps is also weak but it is contested even less than
the mile so I dunno...

"distance with weakest world record" and "next event whose record will be broken" are not the same. Even the hardest record to break can be the next one.
All this talk about the 1500m world record being a matter of time for Kiprop is complete bs.
Kirop has run under 3.28 exactly once in his career and three times in total under 3.30. Go back and take a look at how often El Guerrouj ran 3.30.00 or better - 34 times.
They are in different worlds. Not only that El G was faster (1.42.7 over 800m) and stronger (4.44 and 7.23 for 2 and 3000m respectively) than Kiprop.
Kiprop is a great runner, Olympic Champ and now multiple world champ as was El G - albeit in an era far weaker.
I'm not an El G fanboy by any stretch but suggesting him and Kiprop are in the same league, let alone that Kiprop is on a destiny driven path to running 3.25 and change is completely ridiculous.
But lets keep this thread alive over the next few seasons and see what really happens
The men's 800.
35000 meters
+1
Probably won't be broken anytime soon, but the women's mile is the weakest "distance" WR.
Next distance WR to be broken...Rudisha in the 1000 next summer.
Men's 400m. It'll go down this year or next.
by whom??

What is weak about 4:12?

Perhaps they meant the *clean* women's mile record.
I will go with the 4 x 800 meters. Both the men's and women's records seem weak.
7:02:43 men
7:50.17 women
LOL at this being a "weaker era". More like a cleaner era. You do realize all distance records from the early 90's to the early 2000's were achieved thank to EPO right?
You're all idiots. The distance with the weakest world record is obviously the marathon on the track.
Women's Steeple
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
