Exactly! People are saying the Ethiopians and Kenyans just let Mo take the lead; did you even watch the race? They just about killed their chances trying to KEEP him from taking the lead!

I like Farah and he's a terrific racer. My only knock against him though is that his races are SOOOOO BORRIINNGGG!! Literally every single race of his is the same f****** deal. Sit in middle, slow pace, 600 to go take lead, kick, win, crap time. His races are never different, always dissapoint and suck. That Monaco 1500 was awesome, in large part because for once we saw him run faster than 13:30-27:30 pace.
I really looked forward to this 5K and couldnt have been less enthused.
sorry...
It seems like Gebrihwhet was picked to medal since indoors. He took it easy all outdoors and today finally unleashed his form he had during indoors.
Also Coe knows Mo is dirty as a bathroom floor. look at his expression.

If they set up a rabbited race for Mo when he's peaking, I'd think he'd be good for 12:39-42. I still like Bekele better because he did the records and also won all the Cross Country championships. I hate how many of the best are neglecting XC now.
When has Farah ever shown potential 12:39-42 ability?
I feel sorry for you if you think these races are boring.

Did not see Lord Coe's expression. But even at the Olympics last year he always looked rather dour.

Seriously. Alamirew actually put up a fight at 4200-4400m. If he stayed in the lead coming into the final lap it could have been an entirely different race.
Here's my question, and this is serious:
Ryan Hill has 0 chance to medal, he knows that, we all know that. Why not just try and time-trial it by himself to like a 13:10. Run by himself, as hard as he can, the whole way? I never understand why guys like this don't do that? No one will go with him and it gives him at least a chance to win/place. Even Rupp. He ran that indoor 2-mile practicaly by himself, take the 2nd mile in like a 4:05 and see what's left in the tank for that last mile. Worst case at least you go for it.
The only thing I can think of is the big prize money for 2nd/3rd/4th/etc. They go for it and blow-up, they lose out on 30k. Which is understandable.

great point. very exciting, it was not clear farah was going to win. he's been outkicked before and it looked possible in this race.
completely agree.
congrats to Mo the undisputed best mid distance runner of our time. let's see how he fares in the marathon.

Because the entire field would go with him. Your logic is way off.

At least two 71+ laps. Women's 10K runners would have felt comfortable here except for lap #2.

Undisputed and best of our time? That's either Rudisha or Bekele. Farah is comparable to Asbel Kiprop maybe.
Well, maybe not the whole field, but all you would do is create a rabbit for Koech, et al. to break Farah. There were 6 guys with PRs 20-25 seconds faster than Hill who would have appreciated the 13:10 pace, but would not be phased by it in the least, and that doesn't even include Rupp. Then Hill gets nothing out of it, because he blows up and fades, while they just cruise along at a "faster" pace.

Is that why he wrote an article in a British Newspaper saying that Mo would be the greatest ever British Athlete if he won the 5k today. Dipshit

Hill would benefit by getting a PR.

The field did not respond to the lap 2 surge from two legitimate Kenyans. They sure as hell would not have responded to Hill.
