The Japanese like to throw caution to the wind and show spirit.
American teens like to mock people to feel better about themselves.

Hahaha, that Japanese woman was an idiot!
Your gene pool should be ended for not being able understand what she did. She did what every Kenyan and Ethiopian in the mens 10,000m was too stupid and cowardly to do. She knew she couldn't win a sprint finish, so she made it a race and set a PR doing it. If she sat back with the group and didn't push the pace she would have been out kicked by more distance and more runners.
What a dud for the USA. Women's distance is dead. We can't come close to these African dopers, get back to the lab people!!!
Geez Brendan just give the mike to Steve.....
Niiya did great to keep up with the epopians. Shalane and Hasay...yawn. Women's 10k...double yawn.

You're right. She should have run like Shalane. Shalane took a risk in leading, and she may have gotten her behind kicked, but at least she earned the respect of some people on Letsrun. She can sleep well tonight - Dibaba, not so much.
Indeed, Dibaba will be devastated to learn she has not earned the respect of "some people on Letsrun".
Wow what a stupid tactical decision by the Japanese girl. Everyone knows the real winners sit and kick.

Shalane Flanagan did the best fadeaway I have seen since Michael Jordan.
That was probably the funniest thing I've read on LRC
Hasay #12 in the world!!!

Actually, he called her 'imperious.'
He appears not to know what the word means.
What a pompous ass. Jesus.
African dopers when they win, how about Cain??
Dibaba led the last 5 laps of the 5,000 meters in London last year. Ended up 3rd.

+1
Seriously. It's like people that post here don't know how to race. There's nothing cowardly about running intelligently to give you the best chance to win.
Hasay hung to the main pack 2 laps too long, cost her at the end.

schumacher can't peak his guys/girls. they run great early in the year, not so great late in the year or at big competitions.
Did anyone else notice the Japanese girl hit EXACTLY 74.15 3 laps in a row?
Cain has ZERO chance of winning, be lucky to make final.

Absurd... it was a brilliant tactical decision that gave her the best possible chance to win a medal and she set a PB doing it.
indeed....Tiru is the greatest 10K runner of all time. undefeated. she can run fast, she can kick. and arguably most beautiful stride we have ever witnessed.
London 2014 sub 220 debut for sure.
Not true. He can peak them well for USA's but when it comes to competing internationally, his athletes don't have the speed endurance to compete. Has his group had any medals? Teg 4th is the closest thing I can think of. Teg ran 3:33 around then too.
