He may be a scientist but how is Farah going to go out in 49 when he has established that is his pb!
Rudisha would kill anyone over 600m
Spinters always act they are not out of breath after race, then 5 mins later when interviewed are still huffing and puffing
I agree, Mo is probably the correct answer. When I race the mile, my average pace for the mile per lap is really easy if i did one lap. However, If I run about 11 sec slower than my 400m pr for one lap, that is more difficult.
I think that if you just look at this from the perspective of being out of breath, the answer is Farah, as he's obviously aerobically superior to the other three. However, in terms of overall fatigue, Kiprop would have the easiest time, followed closely by Rudisha. As Sprintgeezer said, you have to think about who can run 54 second pace for the longest time, and that translates to a 3:22.5 1500 and a 1:48 800. That pace is closest to Kiprop's PR, so I'll go with him for that reason.
Lagat has some insight as a relevant 3k/5k runner

This thread shows how people pick their favorite, even when it makes no sense. The person least out of breath at the end is the one who has the easiest time running that time. That is James, without question. All you guys talking about aerobic capacity don't know what you are talking about. It is a non factor in a single 400m race where one guy has a time that would undoubtedly beat the rest.
Most of you don't seem to realize that Kirani James doesn't even start using oxygen until 200 meters, and not very much until 300 or 350. Before that it's ATP and anaerobic glycolysis, which combined last about 40 seconds. If you develop your sprint speed and learn to run an intelligent, positive-split 400, you'll probably end up taking the first 300 barely breathing too.
After that it would be between James and Rudisha. As someone else wrote, Rudisha doesn't breathe. He is either superhuman, a robot or a zombie.
