Goes out fast, then slows down to a "sub-decent" pace. One of the non-favorites takes it with 5k to go, making the race a long, fast drive to the end, eliminating the superkick of major contenders.
Mo still manages to come out on top - 27:14
Why are we to make "final predictions" six days out. What are we going to talk about the rest of the week?
You are silly if you think Dejen is going to loose his only WC race!!
Mo 3rd
Rupp 6th
London a distant memory.

I really like this prediction. I'll say closer to 27:05, though. I have a feeling more than just one country is going to push the pace.
I wouldn't be surprised if one of the Kenyans try to run away with it for a couple of kilometers in the middle of the race before giving up.
I just do not need this race going under 27. But it will be no doubt faster than the Olympic final. I want to say Gebremeskal because it is his only race and he better have a 'edge' after last year's silver in the 5k. But, Farah is such a smart runner I cannot see him losing.
Farah in 27:10
Gebremeskel
Farah
name your Kenyan
Geb is not even in the same galaxy as Mo. Mo wins gold with a four lap kick.
Mo blows his wod early, fades to 3rd as Geb brings it home and Rupp slips in # 2

that's the least likely scenario ever...mo never goes too early. that's his game. he always goes as late as possible
Mo
Geb
???
???
???
Rupp
3. Gebremeskal
2. Mo
1. JELIAN OUTKICKS FARAH AGAIN!!
I think D. Geb will take this. It's his only race, so he's going to be motivated to go all out; while Farah may be more willing to settle for silver, cut his losses and refocus on gold in the 5K.
As for our top American, I really want to say I think Rupp has a medal shot, but he's got a lot of people to fight for that third spot, assuming the first two are pretty much locked for Farah and Geb. And given that Rupp's performance this season has been rather lackluster when compared to his form last year when he took silver at the same distance, I think he'll have to settle for top five this time around.

Geb is in the 26:51 galaxy and Mo is in the 27:30/13:14 galaxy. Mo moves from 10th to 6th with a 1-lap kick.

why do people base current ability on outdated prs/subpar races? you are what you are RIGHT NOW, not what some old pr/race time says you are. have you WATCH MoFa race lately? like with your eyes???? like blowing away Alimenirew(sp)? or running 3:28?in the words of V^3 - "MORON!"hahahhaha!

DG
Farah
Merga
Rupp
Karoki
Tanui
Kuma
...
Derrick 10th
Jelian and Kuma will tire after pushing he pace. Top 6 left at 800 and down to the top 3 at 400.
Gebremeskal ran a 7:35 3k with only one shoe on. you can all go f**k yourselves.
Honest prediction.
Kenyans and Ethiopians don't take it out hard even though they should. Farah wins.
If they do take it out hard, I don't think Farah will win, but the entire finish order may be disrupted. The "number 2" might not be the number 1.

When has Mo Farah done better than those "subpar" performances except in his "outdated" races?
You can't have it both ways. Either the old ones aren't outdated, or the new ones aren't subpar. The correct answer is this year's times are Mo's current form - 13:05 and more recently 13:14, which is not in the same league as 26:51 or anywhere near it. More like 27:20. More than a 150 meter gap.
3:28 has diddly squat to do with 10,000 meter strength. It might get Mo a 27:24 off of 27:30 pace, assuming he can still maintain that pace, and 13:14 with 53 suggests he can't. So I was being generous when I said he'd move from 10th to 6th, Mo-ron. More likely 10th to 9th.
