Rowland has said that the 1500 is the event he can coach the best, and we have seen many of his athletes run fast 1500s and miles this year. Can Wheating get close to his 3:30.9 under Rowland?

I had a feeling this was in the works with Brown evidently moving east, and Wheating being left with out a training partner and Vin being focused on "big vision" projects for UO Track and Field.
Hopefully that means that within the next 18 months an agreement will be announced on a new indoor track and field facility.
wheating is the most talented american born 1500 meter runner in history. that ain't no lie. he's been injury riden, poorly coached, and is a bit of a head case. he COULD become the first American born under 3:30.00 if properly coached and raced
He won't crack 3:33 again

What, Andrew and Vin didn't talk this over with you first?

Jim Ryun would like a word with you.
Rowland coaches Symmonds right?
Wheating shall be back with a vengeance. He seemed to stagnate under Lanana without frequent collegiate racing.

There's so-o much I don't tell this board.

Wheating is a big mystery, and the mystery is health, and learning how to race internationally.

This, kids, is why they call him A Douche.
Look at the little man, feeling big with his "insider" knowledge. Never anything to add.
Stop wasting space on the threads, douche.
Don't get too full of yourself, fella. You're also hated on these boards.
Saladbar call A Duck a "douche"? This is kinda like the pot calling the kettle black, don't you think.
BTW, didn't Saladbar say that he was "history"?

Back to eat more asz eh?
Andy IS a great talent. He is NOT a head case. He does need to race more, make progress with his tactics and get his confidence back. Like all runners health is always a question. Rowland is the best choice he could make other than moving back to NH/Vermont and training with his first coach Jeff Johnson.

Are you saying theres not an indoor track facility at the moment, or just an old one?

Didn't Symmonds used to be coached by Gags? And how did that work with him coaching in NYC and Symmonds living in Oregon?
Vin is a good coach, but he didn't have the time and focus for him. Seemed the last couple years, Vin would only put him in the easiest race scenarios; always worried about his confidence and not wanting to risk a poor performance.
Rowlands better get his group rolling as it appears he has as much resources as Schumacher and now talent as well.
I checked wheatings twitter and he had been binging on sugar. He can't be doing stuff like that as a pro runner. No discipline is the problem. Is it going to make him fat? No. He can just run those cals off. It is going to reduce his insulin sensitivity and make it more difficult for him to gain lean muscle.
Also, Wheating is an 800 type or at least an 800/ 1500 type. It's obvious.
Vin has been been good for Wheating, but I think that this move is in so many ways the right one, and like A Duck says Russel Brown's departure indicates it may have been in the works for a while.
Rowland is in many respects a perfect fit for an athlete like Wheating. I don't think he gets enough respect as a coach on these boards when compared to Salazar and Schumacher, but in current mid-distance guys like Jordan McNamera and Nick Symmonds, he has demonstrated the ability to coach his athletes to consistent improvements from year to year, and his experience in both the 800 and the 1500 will fit nicely with Wheating's strengths. On top of that, training day in and day out with guys like Nick, Jordan, Tyler Mulder and Elijah Greer will give Wheating training partners who can both push him in practice and improve his confidence.
No knock against Vin, but this is great news for Wheating. I hope it all comes together.
