Sprints sell, distances smell
There will never be a world record in a WC for distance.
There can be for sprints. thats what they want.
Distance races at Championship Meets have become 400m sprints, So this should actually favor distance runners as well.
I don't see why this would screw the distance runners. Mondo is by far the best track provider, regardless of distance.
What do you base that on? It may be that the track is a hard, fast track for sprinters, but it doesn't say anything in the article about that.
Anyway, what about Rudisha's WR in London? Have WR's in distances been only set on more cushioned tracks?
Mondo is fast, even for the distances. Hard on the legs but fast.
Arkansas are meant you be getting a very similar one to the one in Moscow.
Farah wants that sub 50 babay!

Real track and field fans knows that Bolt will dominate sprints 100/200/4x100. instead 800, 1500, and 5000 are open...
Moreover, in 10k you have 3 or 4 Africans that are wanting to do sub 27.
Mondo; great for competition regardless of distance, not the greatest to train on repeatedly.
(I will say I have heard some very reputable Jumps coaches mention High Jumping on Mondo isn't the best, but the other jumps are great on Mondo)

Sad if you think that Bondarenko and Barshim are in 2.4x form and threating Sotomayor 2.45 WR. Even Eric Kinard is threating Charles Austin 2.40 (American record)

Hard surfaces favor distance runners as well, it just beats up your legs, but you only feel it after race. (Not great for training.) Also, the new Mondo tracks soften up over time and when it is hot.
Btw, Reiti is a hard track and that were a lot of distance records were set.
Were their PB or SB jumps made on Mondo or another surface?
I'm sure there are plenty of jumpers who have performed well on Mondo in the HJ, just as there are plenty of sprinters who have run PB/SB on a surface other than Mondo. My comment was directed towards the event as a whole not a few specific jumpers.
I believe Bolt's records in Berlin 2009 didn't come on a Mondo surface, but on a Regupol polyurethane surface.
there was a move towards a soft lane one and hard sprint lanes with 2 thru 9 used for sprints-- then they invented the three heat semi-final.
How exactly does this screw the distance runners?
Looks like an ad for Mondo.
The superfast tracks at Eugene and Auburn (among others) are Benyon-BSS2000. Mondo is not everything.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Jakob Ingebrigtsen has a 1989 Ferrari 348 GTB and he's just put in paperwork to upgrade it
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
