I wouldn't call VCB a sacrificial lamb either. She's beloved in Jamaica.
This is true however it is also without question that like Gay, VCB is most certainly at the tail end of her career. Releasing info on athletes like Gay or VCB is easy. The are not the future of the sport - not like say Usain Bolt (who will be biggest name in the sport probably even years after he retires) or even Yohan Blake who are the bargaining chips for sponsorship $$$.
Furthermore it seems more plausible and in a way more acceptable (this is not the right word I am looking for but you get my drift) that an older athlete would cheat to try and hold on a bit longer/reclaim former glories.
For me VCB, Gay, Powell are just token catches to say "yeah we are onto it and poppong the big guys" when in reality, just like our sport is being unveiled as, its just smoke and mirrors
I agree and it's not like vcb will get much more than a slap on the wrist. Bolt is too big to fail in much the same way Carl Lewis was.
If it really is field events who is suspicious?
Are we still talking about just Jamaicans and Americans?
Look for whoever pulls out of London this weekend.

People thought the same about Lance.
This is ridiculous. You have some of the biggest names in the sport getting busted, and people still think they're "sacrificial lambs". It'd be like Dwight Howard testing positive and fans calling it a sacrificial lamb because he's not Lebron James.
It's evident that, short of Bolt testing positive, everyone's a sacrificial lamb.

While you may be right, I never thought that and don't recall anyone here saying that. What lance had against him is that he made a lot of enemies along the way and he was arrogant. I am sure he pissed off the wrong people. Bolt is the golden boy and can do no wrong.
Boldon said "it's not an athlete headed to the worlds"
And then
"Yesh, really. Field event's turn"
The remaining question would be "is he/she American?"
I am just curious to know why they are not testing hockey players or am I wrong on my assumptions.

Because hockey is more popular in the north of the country and Canada? maybe NHL players are linked to another Northern clinic.

Until then they're playing favorites and only busting sacrificial lambs.
Blake has been busted.
Oh and Powell and Gay are only sacrificial lambs? Both those names are bigger names than Merritt and Jeter. So is Frazer-Price who also has a bust.
What the hell isn't a big positive to you?

Don't take the LSAT...
What happened to the "17 positive tests from endurance athletes"?
Were they all Turkish, or have they come out yet, or what?
Jeter of USA is the poster figure for false negatives, agreed. But unlike UCI for cycling, i'm not convinced WADA doesn't really want to deal with the problem. The positive tests are believable, and it's not just lightweights that have been caught recently. T.Gay, Powell, VCB are *Were* major players. Bolt is outside expectations in so many ways that it's hard to be sure no matter what. But the impossible 100X overabundance of world class sprinters in Jamaica has been the track version of L.A./7TdF, and may finally be cracking.
If anything, they appeared to all be Turkish as that country is on the verge of getting banned for drug abuse.
Well, here's a crazy thought: Seeing people run at maximum effort is a beautiful thing whether they are doped or not. If enough runners are busted they could give the finger to the IAAF and go on to form their on travelling meet League without the boring field events.
I'd still pay to go see them, especially knowing that I didn't have to wonder whether or not they were doped, as that question would have been settled already.
Also I'd much prefer watching television from an all-out running track meet with admitted dopers without having the live flow interrupted by (for just two) say failing high jumpers at third attempt and random hammer throws were it's impossible to follow the whole comp anyway, destroying the same for the ongoing run (if it's longer than 800) in the same process.

Not enough people in the USA to make money off of that, and in Europe they actually do care about the field events. The top pole vaulters are rock stars or super models, javelin is about as big as baseball in scandinavia, and in eastern europe people actually watch the throws.

Only really in France, maybe Germany and Russia.

Definitely not, except for Finland where it's the national sport. Norway and Sweden has some good javeliners, but they're basically living under bridges as far as sponsoring and interest goes.

Because they know and have accepted that doping in those events are a part of the sports culture - which proves my point that there's a market to aim for for banned runners too...
Finland is Nordic, not Scandinavian.

I think you're over-estimating Jeter's importance to the IAAF.
