Last of the 90+ spear throwers. Dorkildsen is finished. Pitkämäki still might throw 90+. Vesely tries hard but will never break 90.
Fondness for finnish spear throwers confirmed. Objectivity non-existing.
Teros last throw over 90m was in 2007, thats 6 years ago.
He is consistently throwing 86/87m, but so what? He is also weak-minded, when it counts he fails.
*Thorkildsen threw over 90m in 2011, and since 2007 hes thrown over 87m five times, 4 of them over 90m. Sure, hes had a bad two last years. So what, how many medals have Tero won the last few years? I've got no faith in anyone of them.
Veseley have a better result this year than Tero, but the young russian Dmitrij Tarabin is the best so far, and he is young and promising.

This is another one from a UK perspective, the inclusion of Rupp might be surprising but I think he is relatively well known here.
This is the best list I've seen, although I don't think Rupp would make the top 10 (and I'm American).
Those who listed Symmonds and Lolo Jones are kidding yourselves. If it was a US top 10 list, Jones would certainly make it, but I don't think Symmonds would even make the top 10 in the US.
Bolt
Farah
Kiprop
Rudisha
Eaton
Felix
Fraser-Price
Richards-Ross
Kirani James
Vlasic
lo of people overlooked Jessica Ennis who was the most googled athlete of 2012 in any sport.
I'd go (in no particular order)
Bolt
Ennis
Felix
Vlasic
Isinbayeva
Radcliffe
Farah
Lemaitre
Pistorius (sadly)
liu xiang
Gay, Blake and Powell not far behind.
The likes of Merritt simply is a hardly known name outside US track and US track doesn't get much attention in their own country despite his achievements. The likes of Lemitre and Isinbayeva's big reps are higher if you consider a lot of people know them as "That Pole Vault lady who keep breaking the WR" and "The white man who runs under 10".

No less objective than all the Mo-rons who think their sit-and-kick hero is the most talented. How many times has Mo been WL in any event? Once.
Tero's been WL lots of times and has a solid chance of being WL this year. Unlike Dorki and the others, Tero still has the talent to launch a 90+, he just has to figure out his form. That's why he was training with Zelesny a while back.
If there was anyone questionable on my list it would be Perkovic who has been busted for doping before.

You've got to be Finnish to put that name there, absolutely ridiculous.
The Nick Symmonds guy had to be American too. There will be regional bias here, that's ok.

10. Michael Johnson - had great name recognition after Atlanta, maybe not so many people would come up with his name now but everyone remembers the golden spikes

Ennis-Hill is at least as big a name in the UK as Mo

Sure you are, far less objective. Mo wins, over and over. He dominates. Tero does not. Nobody is holding back in javelin, its all in each time unless theres some hamstring or whatever problem that keeps them back a little.
Teros been WL lots of times...Tero hasn't had WL since 2005, and since then Thorkildsen have had WL by the end of the season five out of seven times.
You clearly have something against Thorkildsen, and you clearly is a big Tero fan. No problem in that, but to claim that he is one of the top 10 athletes is laughable.
The young russian has thrown further this year than Tero has since 2007, and don't come here talk about Tero going to throw long as soon as his technique is in order, you could say the same about Thorkildsen. He is doing great in workouts, his strength is as good as ever, its his technique he cant seem to get right at the moment.
OK, so I just scanned the first page, where is KIPROP???
