I like Ritz and think he's solid. But I'll bite on your Ritz story only because you're obtuse at analysis. Late June 2009 Ritzenhein ran 27:58 @ USATF/Eugene finishing second to Rupp. He announced his switch to Salazar immediately after. About seven weeks later he went 27:22 at Worlds in Berlin, finishing 6th and 15 seconds ahead of Rupp. His 12:56 was 11 days after Berlin. There was never any indication that Ritz could go 12:56, as he had never clocked better than 13:16. His next fastest times to date are a 13:09 from this year and a 13:14 and 13:15 in 2012. If anything he had the perfect setup of a 27:58 in June, 27:22 in mid August and then a step down for the 12:56 a week or so later.
It was easily the best year Ritz had and it was exactly as he switched to Salazar, as a poster said earlier.
I think the posters comparison is appropriate. Farah lost to a one-shoed Gebremeskel at the start of 2011, Indoor. Two weeks later he beat Rupp in running his 13:10 and announced Salazar as coach. He didn't lose another race all of 2011 (apart from the 10000m final in Daegu) and posted his bests of 12:53 and 26:46.
It was easily Farah's fastest year, exactly as he switched to Salazar. Of course, until this 3:28 that he just threw down during the build for the 5/10 double in Moscow.
