4 in the top 5, all in 4:00-4:01, not including Moser or Cain...

It's hard to believe Cory McGee made this team.
Cain will stomp them all at the WC's if she makes it to the final!
neither martinez nor simpson ran the trials, moron.
Looking forward to see the video replay.
American Phoebe Wright was the rabbit. leading the pack to a 2:12.
I bet Brenda held back, as usual, and was in 5th or 6th place at the gun lap. A strong finish just wasn't enough to overtake Jenny.

Great race for the Americans! Simpson, B-Mart, Rowbury, and Anderson all close to breaking 4.

That was cool how you made up your own imaginary version of the race and shared it with us.
Personally, I bet Gabriele Anderson ran the first two laps backwards. It's incredible how well she finished after such an unorthodox start.

The fact Salazar ran onto the track and stood in front of the women racing in an attempt to slow the race to allow Moser back into the race and was then dragged off by security was pretty insane to see too! Live TV really can get pretty dramatic

Thank you for kind thoughts.
The replay will tell whose imagination is closer to the truth.
Jenny Simpson is the antidote to "sit and kick". We saw this early in the season in Des Moines also. Do you think American WC entries would include Cain, Moser or McGee if Jenny had run in the USA 1500 championship?

McGee still had no business making this team.
Moser was in the race.....
All the U.S. women deserve huge props for that race. At the 800 (2:12) and the 1100 (3:00) marks, I really did not think the field had a chance of breaking 4:00, but it's amazing how close so many of them came to doing it.
With a 59 last lap, Jenny really is at the top of her game--but Brenda Martinez is right there with her. I know that Symmonds rightly likes to point to his 1500 PRs as a sign of his strong endurance relative to the rest of the international field, but a race like this makes me think that Brenda is even more deserving of such an accolade: she can negative split an 800 off of a fast pace, and she's almost sub-4:00 now.
I know Brenda's decision to compete in the 800 was surprising for people, especially those who thought her chances were superior at the 1500, and that may yet remain the case; but I am more and more thinking that Brenda's strength is going to prove an asset that will be great enough at least to get her into the WC final.
lousy day for salazar's athletes...
rupp 6th in 13:05 (14 seconds behind soi and rop)
moser dead last in 4:07 (7 seconds behind simpson and the other americans)
centro 8 in 3:33 (6 seconds behind kiprop)
farah was the only one who had a good race with his 3:28 National Record

That was the point-- four USA women under 4:02 and Moser was not one of them.
Whether he made it up or not, it was true. Martinez was in 5th or 6th at the bell and did have a strong finish that just wasn't enough to overtake Jenny.
Rupp seems to be just a little off this year.
Considering that going into Nationals, Moser had the fastest time among Americans, and Cain, if memory serves, the fourth fastest, yes, a sensible person would think if JS ran the 1500 at Nationals that Moser and Cain had a really good chance of making the team.

Actually, instead of playing make believe, let's consider what happened. At the bell, Martinez was in fourth place, but practically even with the third place girl. Also, she would admit she didn't run the smartest of races, since she was out in lane 2 around several turns, and got tripped down the backstretch of the penultimate lap and lost three places and about two meters. It was still a great performance by her--that is, the one that actually took place. Here's the race:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaG0FjXhiDU

Please, Cain and Moser had the fastest season bests in the field, so they would have made it anyways. McGee might not have made it in a faster race, but she definitely proved that she belongs on the team.
