very sad and that baby grows up never having seen his/her mother, except dead at birth.
I was about to start a thread on this. Very sad. Glad to see the baby made it.

I think the statement that she competed in the 2004 Olympics for Ethiopia is false in the marathon.
also does't list any marathons for her. I think she was more of a mid-d runner.
Her PBs according to: 2:01.11, 4:03.96.

Sad News: Ethiopian 1500 Runner Meskerem Legesse Dies at a Restaurant in Connecticut
There's another similarly named woman who did do marathons. And an Ethiopian site referred to her as a marathoner, but it seemed like they considered all runners to be marathoners. The deceased woman was not one.
I think I met her on the track a few years ago, jogged with her during our cooldown and her warmup. She seemed shy but very nice, I rooted for her whenever I saw her race. Terrible tragedy.
She came to the US to train with Krummenaker and his team. She was in Arizona. Still holds world indoor junior record in 800 of 2"01x.
She died in front of her 2 year old son! very tragic.
