Pro, college, hs, or ms?
College.
Lots of coaches are married to former athletes. Fewer are married to athletes they personally coached.
One of the fist things they taught me at USATF Level 1 coaching class was that you should never date an athlete. The guy who was teaching the course was married to one of his athletes.
I know at least 10.
I know 2 that are looking that way. One couple is engaged already.
bump
In light of all the discussion about Hadsell Admitting to being in a relationship over 10 years ago. I am curious as to how many division I Head coaches are married to one of their former athletes? Hadsell's name Keeps coming up on the message board. I know for a fact the guy has no interest in coaching anymore. But, if you were to want to coach, is what he did by Being in a relationship he admitted to over a decade ago that bad? I can think of at least eight Division I head coaches that are currently married to a former athlete. How many are there total?
Easy answer : look at all the married coaches, the husband is the head coach, the wife is asst coach.
You can guarantee they were dating as coach-athlete at one time. Scott Simmons said this was true of him and his wife Petra.
Julie & Pat Henner.

A college professor in the same situation with a student would lose their job.
Not super troublesome at the pro level, but weird if the age difference is very big.
Creepy at the college if it happens soon after or (much worse) during coach/athlete relationship.
Very creepy at HS level regardless of when it occurs.

Interesting read.
http://chronicle.com/article/Sexual-Paranoia-Strikes/190351Obviously if the relationship happens after the coaching relationship is over (i.e. post graduation) not a problem at all.
......askin for a friend
It happens ALLL the time.
And yes it is creepy on the HS level. There were tons of rumors about a girl and the track coach at my school, after she graduated they got married, they now have 3 kids been married for 15+ years.
Sure how they met is skeevey but they're mr & mrs america middle class family now.
