Honestly, if I were in Hasting's situation I might be a little upset. It's true she (and Goucher) did not accomplish what they needed to at the trials. And it's true that Hasay and Erdman still have to run 25 laps in a certain time on their own. But I don't think there is much doubt that they have some advantages over other runners in having a situation set up for them where they can run on their home track in a perfectly paced race.
