Lot of smart things being said on Page 3. Confidence race? I say yes. Pit-stop on the way to Moscow? Makes sense too.
Why is he not running in the same race as Mo? He needs much more speed work than Mo; thus the difference between silver and gold.
What time is he looking for? Dude crushed the mile during the indoor season, running 3:51 and making it look easy with a workout on the treadmill afterwards. See I wonder if AlSal is gonna have Rupp race this mile at the beginning, in the middle, or at the end of an entirely larger speed session. At the beginning makes sense, because he'll have all the time in the world to workout after the race. But at the end of an earlier workout could prepare him for Moscow better... maybe the 3rd or 4th of mile repeats?
If he's fresh... I say he's got a shot at sub 3:50. He's the Olympic silver medalist in the 10k, he knows how to run. His indoor time puts him really close to that 3:49 mark, something he definitely wants (as well as the AR at some point.. maybe next season at PRE during the off year)!!
If he's in the middle or at the end of a workout count on him being around 3:55 or 3:58.
And of course, he's getting a fat, non-Nike paycheck here, by the meet organizers. That's what happens when you win medals.
