The whole field hasn't been released yet, but he'll definitely be going up against Leo and Centro. Any predictions on his time?

Galen drops a 3.51 out of nowhere, centro bags it with 200 to go, and Leo kicks down the homestretch for 3rd.
Rupp 3:49 for 2nd
I believe this is the race which produced the last male American victory in a major European 1500/Mile.
(1:49) 3:55

he ran 3:50.8 indoors a few months ago, so it would not be out of nowhere.
usually (eamonn coghlan the exception) people can run faster/better outdoors.
Given his impressive 3:50.9 indoors, I can certainly see 3:49. Hope so!
I think in a fast race Rupp will annihilate Centro and Manzano.

+1
So since he's working on his mile speed, are we gonna see another hobby jogged first mile followed by a world class mile finish?
Close to Webbs' AR?
Rupp is putting all his eggs in the basket of a mile, which might be adequate if the world champs turn out to be another jogfest like London.
However if the pace turns out to be anything more than a 1 to 4 last few laps kick, then it's going to be a lot tougher for him.
At the US champs this year, he had a hard time with a relatively modest last 5 laps, off a very slow pace. I think his preparation strategy is not very good.
Rupp in a DL mile? This should be interesting.
Good to see him coming out to race a bit finally as well.
You guys know that Rupp's first mile indoors was only 3:57. I'd say he'll be faster than that but not faster than his 3:50.9 indoors.
3:47.5 if the pacemaking is good.
Rupp runs a sub-PR early season race:
"Rip can't hang with the best. His Silver was a fluke."
Rupp runs a paced AR attempt.
"He can only do these special TTs. He'll never handle the quick, changing paces in a champioinship."
Rupp does insanely well in every champioinship lately.
"He can only handle jogfests with kicks. He'll never do a long, paced effort."

Wrong, WC 5k is likely to be slow with a fast finish over the last 1-4 laps. Even in a fast race (sub-13) medals will be decided in a kick over the last lap.
Don't forget that Rupp's focus is the 10k! Where he still has to run the last lap in 52-54 seconds to get a medal.

So you're agreeing with me, but I'm wrong.

brunning a mile does not mean he is training for a 1500...more likely he is putting in heaving aerobic work for the 5000 and racing a 1500 to sharpen up and work on his race tactics without subjecting his body to the recovery time needed after a hard 5000
in no way indicates that he is banking on the WC 5000 being a slow race...he'll be prepared for all scenarios as he usually is
Rupp is not prepared for a 10k.
He's not even run one close to 28 minutes this year.
this.
