anyone wanna start?
anyone wanna start?
Yeah, don't boss me.
Los Angeles:
Pros: weather (biggest one), many things to do, wide variety of restaurants/stores, relatively close to the beach, lots of races
Cons: traffic!!, too many people, high cost of living, stuck up rich people (certain areas), lack of quality running trails
Seattle
Pros: Mild (cool) summers, mild (warm) winters, cost of living not too high compared to comparable cities, progressive, lots of running trails and great running community, biggest city in a large area so you get lots of bands/singers in town often, rains are usually just a light drizzle
Cons:
Atlantis
Pros: Quiet, low key, historical, scenic, mecca, just great all around really
Cons: Lost

Cons: the fact that it rains there or is gloomy for a good 4 months straight.
Don't get me wrong, I love seatlle (lived there for 6 years), but getting soaked anytime I walked or rode my bike anywhere in the winter months was annoying.
Yeah listing "weather" under the "PRO" column for Seattle invalidates your credibility. Seattle has truly crap weather for 9 months out of the year. No thanks.
Cumming, GA
Pros: The name
Cons: The name
Cleveland
Pros: Hermes Cleveland Road Racing series, Melt, Polish Boys ( Hot Dog with cole slaw potatoes and etc on top), Charles Ramsey, Pierogies
Cons: All our sports teams suck, Reputation, Crime, This video:

Where do you live in L.A.? We have some of the best running trails in the nation. We have mountains that are over 10,000 high. Are you crazy? This is a trail running mecca.
Boston
Pros: Lots of great schools/colleges, a ton of cultural and historical locations to visit, solid running community, good cultural vibes, fairly progressive on social issues, nice running community with tons of races every weekend.
Cons: Traffic, city is essentially a maze of one-ways and random, tiny streets, expensive, difficult to find a job.
Odenton, MD (near Fort Meade)
Pros: Right between Baltimore and DC and near Annapolis. So traffic disperses and isn't too heavy and there are job opportunities in all directions. It's a double suburb.
No usual big weather concerns like tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, mudslides, wild fires, blizzards, floods, droughts, etc.
Cons: Need more takeout food options in town.
Not very scenic. No good dirt trails for running.
Buffalo
Pros: Bars open until 4 every night, decent looking women for a crappy city, some good restaurants and lots of late night spots, fall can be beautiful, lots of evening races and most have unlimted beer afterwards, chicken wings, super cheap to live.
Cons: Winter/spring are miserable, city is dump, lousy sports teams, lack of good jobs, mediocre universities, very few people who are well traveled or done much outside of Buffalo (don't realize how much it sucks).
Kansas City
Pro: BBQ
Cons: It's in Kansas and Missouri.
Toledo, OH (formerly)
Pros: Good trails in certain parks, cheap to live, nice spring early fall weather(mild winters not bad), close to water, bigger city offers variety in dining/entertainment, can always find a race, access to plenty of tracks.
Cons: Crime. You're never too far away from a seedy area. Cold icy winters can make it difficult to get your miles in. Job oppotunities suck. Negative attitudes. Really bad areas that you should never set foot in. Roads can be terrible. Downtown is da suck. It's smack dab between 4 crap areas of town north, east, west and south...no buffer zone of niceness. Rifraff expanding into suburbs. Tough guy wangsta attitudes.
Denver (from one who used to live near Chicago)
PROS: Climate (mild summers AND winters), Music scene, outdoor activities, lots of places to run, lots of small breweries, good entertainment
CONS: Drivers are AWFUL (ex: super slow in left lane on Interstate), little diversity (too many white people (and yes, I'm white)), forest fires, way too many hipsters (they're confused - hipsters ARE the norm here...)
Pros/Cons depending on the person: Pot is 'legalized,' altitude for training, soccer moms EVERYWHERE
Austin, Texas
Pros:
music scene, 6th street bars, Tex-Mex food
Hot women, good running trails, art, cool summers, progressive politics
Cons:
Hot and humid summers, Hipster are sometimes annoying.
