Does anyone think Hasay will ever be competitive on the world level? I just don't see her ever being in contention in a single diamond league event.

I don't think immediately. However, give her one year with an Alberto type coach, I believe we're going to see a dramatic difference.

It has been mentioned. However people are only mildly curious because she's not one of the best female distance runners in the country.
She clearly stagnated while at Oregon, so I'll be interested to see if Salazar (if, in fact, this is all true) can turn things around.
Anyone remember when Jordan was a Sr in HS and they said she would own Sally Kipyego.... I laughed so hard when she lined up for the 5k and the national meet record was Sallys while she was doubling in that meet. 9 National Titles lol and she was supposed to be better hahahaha
Why in the world would you laugh at someone because others misjudged what she could do?

HA HA...I quick glanced at the Message Board titles from the Front Page of LR and thought this thread said "HASAY TO BE CHOKED BY SALAZAR". I was like, Noooooooooooo!, Phew!
I agree with those who have said it. I really think she's going to be a 10k runner.
31-low in just a few years. Then sub-15 in the 5k.
A similar thing happened to me I at first thought I saw "HASAY TO BE POACHED BY SALAZAR".
Hassay is the perfect "client" for Salazar ... she has great endurance, but doesn't have the top end speed. Likely she is mostly "slow twitch". Inducing a hyperthyroid state would likely move the needle on someone like Hassay. From "Clinical Exercise Testing"
Changes in skeletal muscles are described in experimental hyperthyoidism, including a shift of fiber type distribution towards fast twitch type
"Someone" will likely facilitate the shift of fiber type toward fast twitch via treatment for undiagnosed hypothyroidsm, and Hassay will have a big kick similar to Rupp and Mo in the next 1 - 2 years.

A little T3 and whatever concoction AS uses for fast twitch muscle conversion and she will be there.
Awesome.
Children should stay off this website. If you don't even know how to spell her last name, you are lame and are purposely imposing controversy. Shame on you. No name, you are lame.
Post your real name, you lame McFlounder loser big fish. Go look in the mirror and smile at yourself you loser. Do you have a job or are you on food stamps?
Yes, I bet that character McFlounder is indulging in tuna and beer and we are paying for his/her food stamps!
Jordan will do very well in the coming years, as she will now be able to focus on her individual events and training full time. While I do not know her, she strikes me as someone who wants to be the best at all that she does. She tried to be the best teammate (always referencing the team and sometimes sacrificing personal goals to benefit them), the best student (her GPA is much higher than many -- and perhaps all -- others who have the same number of All American awards, and the best athlete. No one else could have done it all, and in the end, she likely came closer than anyone else would have. As a former DI athlete who took my grades very seriously (but was never anywhere near as talented as Jordan), I do think no longer worrying about performing well in the classroom will free up much of her time, energy and focus.
Besides that, not being focused on a team anymore will allow her to hone in on the individual talent she possesses. She made small but steady gains in college, and is graduating with faster times in all but the 5K than Flanagan or Goucher. She is healthy, versus some who have run faster this year and last year. I would like to see her get away from Pappas, as I don't think she's a healthy influence, but otherwise, I think Jordan wanted a team experience after being largely alone in high school. She got that at Oregon, and now she's ready to be an elite. I think many detractors will have to eat their words within the next 12 to 24 months when she proves her rare talent never went away.
Okay, a nice analysis...except you lost me at wanting her to get away from Alexi Pappas.
Exactly why do you think she is a bad influence? Based on what evidence?
As someone who has met Alexi, and her parents, I find that an inane and hilarious projection on your part.
I'd rather they stay together, in a training group, and start a podcast together, I am sure they'd be hilarious and inspire a lot of their fans.

In no way am I picking on you, but you are pretty off-base here.
Jordan was struggling last year, and it was clear that she was losing her spark. Alexi helped bring that back (I suspect she was almost totally responsible, but I can't confirm that).
I'll infer (correct me if I am wrong) that you think that Alexi is too flaky and a distraction. Jordan does have a less serious side that those outside her circle don't get to see.
My biggest fear is that Jordan gets into a program that doesn't give her the opportunity to express that side of her personality.
Heaven knows, we already see how hard she can be on herself.
I am laughing at all of the idiots that said it, not her... Jordan is a heck of an athlete and the Ducks would of had there hands full to win all of those team titles without her. Point being the people judging Talent on these boards have no idea what they are talking about. Kipyego lost like what 2 or 3 races in her entire college career. And those were at nationals after doubling up with prelims and only losing by a few seconds.

Okay - my real name is Herman P. McGrouper, III. Are you happy now?

Word.
Anyone know if this is official?
Has she signed with Nike already?
I wish she goes train with Shalane and Kara...and Alexei (as said above, she has been nothing but a good influence for Jordan!)
Here's going to be the challenge for Hasay: she doesn't have the speed for the middle distances, but she overheats, which is a problem for the 5k on up ...
I really hope she can be successful: great athlete, nice young woman!!

That reminds me of the the storyline in one of my Melrose and Croc books.
