If they're running intervals they'll get fit quickly. Maybe not at the same speed but I've also tried it. So I know.

Well put sir!

Not surprising in the least. Galen Rupp is the best runner in the world right now.
LOL. For the best runner in the world, he's sure been trashed by a lot of guys since his 10,000 in London.

Not sure why exactly you don't think this matters.
When did you try it and what sorts of workouts were you doing?
How much time elapsed before you saw improved fitness?
This is total BS. I was at the track that morning.
I saw them do a bunch of 200's, I wasn't timing them but they were flying. Alberto let us warm down with them afterwards. Very nice guys, but trust me, this workout did not happen on that morning.

50 I don't.
exactly. all the people saying a 50s 400 to close out 10k + of speed for a workout are delusional.
Looks like the illegal thyroid treatments are doing tremendous things for these guys. I get tired when I run hard, so does that mean something is wrong with me and I should take energy boosting drugs?
I tend to agree with you for this reason: how could the OP know the splits of every run, but not be sure of the rest between any of them?

Just watched Mo and Galen run a workout in Provo, Ut and my mind was blown.
6x1600m (4:22, 4:18, 4:15, 4:13, 4:03, 4:04)
2x400m (53, 50)
All. At. Altitude.
Not sure what the rest was exactly...
What part of GOLD AND SILVER MEDALS IN THE OLYMPICS do you not understand?
I was there (nobody will believe this though) to run the half marathon there this weekend.
I was doing a shakeout run on the BYU campus and ran by and saw Mo on the track. Walked in and watched the entire workout, chatted with them for 5 minutes afterward. Couldn't believe how nice they were.
If dreamer is who I think he is, he and his buddy were running laps around the outside on the track, so that's why he doesn't know the rest.
It was 6x1600 with 600meter rest....
The mile splits he put were right on.
The 400s were spot on...they had the clock running on the jumbo screen. Couldn't believe it...
I sat in the stands and watched the entire workout. Have some pics but don't know how to post them on here...
is it really surprising two guys who are doped to the gills can do this?
Use imgur for the pictures then post the link here

Yes, it's crazy to think that a guy who averaged 4:18 for 3 x 1,600 w/zero rest in the Olympics trials, with a huge negative split, close to a 4:00 last 1,600, and a 52.5 last lap could run this workout. The same guy who ran 6 x 4:18 for 1,600 w/ZERO rest and one last fast lap two years ago during his AR 10,000. Inconceivable for a 3:50 miler and Olympic silver medalist, especially if the last 400 was a hand-timed 50.9 with a running start at altitude. Maybe this workout is bullish*t, but it is not beyond Rupp or Farah's capability.
I don't think the workout is something nobody will believe. I meant that letrunners would be quick to say, "another guy is making up this entire thing" as someone said earlier.
It was cool to see people I've watched/idolized (oh no..people will start calling me out for that!) over the years working their hardest...
For whatever reason, it was cool to see them pushing their limits and battling fatigue toward the end of each interval like I am on mine, granted they were doing them a minute faster! ...and making 4:20s-4:00s seem effortless....

Subtracting 5 s/1600 for the altitude conversion, that makes it:
4:17,4:13,4:10,4:08,3:58,3:59. impressive. let's see them in fast races.
Does Salazar utilize a pulse monitor with any of his athletes?

Imgur. Link.
Upload takes 10s.
Greg Meyer has some opinions on Facebook.
any idea what they averaged for the 600m of rest?
