No, no one is noticing because she is Mexican.
If she's Mexican, why would you expect Americans to cheer for her?
"media is inherently euro centric and promotes the culture and sort of values "they" value. the white, jewish, media BTW."___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Like Willie Sutton, sports media go where the money is. On Sunday, the "white, Jewish" NY Times had a one sentence account of Mary Cain's 800. It was buried in the middle of a column of assorted bits from the AP, several pages from the front sports page.
"Justin Gatlin won the 100 meters at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Ore., in a wind-aided time of 9.88 seconds, besting his fellow Americans ...
... Mary Cain, 17, of Bronxville, N.Y., broke the high school record in the 800 in 1 minute 59.51 seconds, placing fifth in an elite field."

Uhhh no she is not
I have a very bad feeling about Brenda, the USATF 800m is always a slug fest, it is never tactical and one slip up and it's all over. Historically, the top 800m runners come into nationals with lackluster performances and run their best time of the season at nationals. There are over half a dozen women ready to run 1:59 at nationals and at 2-3 looking to run 1:58. Athletes like Latavia Thomas, Phoebe Wright, Geena Gall, Eric Moore and Maggie Vessy have been waiting for this one race. When I look at Brenda's season and the that one workout, it looks like she was trying to PR in May. - Brenda is far from a lock to make the team and watch out for Ajee Wilson, who no body is talking about.
Damn she runs a 1:58.18 and everyones freaking out, she has a better chance medalling in the 8 than the 15. She can handle rounds and she NEGATIVE SPLIT the aforementioned race. I dont think more than 5 ppl are in sub 2 shape and the 400-800 runners will be hurt more by the rounds. She is not a lock but i say she has a 70 % chance of making the team here conpared to a 90 % chance of making the 1500. Difference is her chances of medaling in the 15 are less than 10% and about 20% chance of medaling at world 800's
