If this was true, every school that ever hosted a summer camp would be in violation of the rules.[/quote]
The communication is not a violation. As long as Mary Cain had finished her competition and has been released by her coach (Salazar), this becomes an unofficial visit. It is cleared because it is on Oregon's Campus.
Sport Camps have their own rules for Recruiting Contact. The Recruiting Contact must not occur during the camp. The camp must have either not begun and the "camper" not checked in or the camp must be be over and the "camper" must be completely checked out. At either of these points outside of the camp the Coach / Recruit may have a full, entire recruiting discussion. But in between it is a violation.
It is the same for not counting the Camp as a Recruiting Evaluation. Any observed physical activity during the camp, is camp. Anything before or after would be an Recruiting Evaluation.
