Last time he requested a ridiculous pace (7:39 for 3k in Paris last season), the race actually went out at that pace but Bekele wasn't even close to winning it. perhaps could Mo Farah finally run in the 26:30s?

All IF's and BUT's, fact is he's double olympic champ and is the best distance runner in the world at the moment, hence he will be and should be favorite to win this race.

Farah is the luckiest Olympic gold medalist ever. If coincidences had not been in his favor, he would have been bronze at best. Old Haile, No Jellien (spelling?), an inexplicable absence of top Kenyan talent, and a beat up Keninesa Bekele = lucky Farah. If Bekele is in any kind of shape, Farah doesn't stand a chance.
In terms of weakest competition at the olympics, Million Wolde has him beat.
I'm not going to believe Bekele is back until I see evidence of it. I've yet to see that. However, if he gets to be "back", then Farah has virtually no chance to beat him.
This is gonna be one hell of a race no matter what the pace. Mo has been on fire the last 2 years, this cannot be argued. However, he'd never contend with a peak (or even close to peak) form Bekele. There is nothing wrong with saying that, Bekele is arguably the GOAT distance runner. That being said, Farah is very good himself and has shown he can beat Bekele when he's on and Bekele is not. I just hope the pace is hot like they are calling for so everyone can find out Farah's true potential in terms of PR's for 5k/10K and not his usual lame a** sit and kick for a 13:20/27:30 routine. He and Rupp's tactics, while they work occasionally, or boring as sh*t to watch and ruin any chance of fast times. I'd love to see them really go after 26:30 and not p*ssy out for a sit and kick
I'd love to see Bekele take a big dump on Farah's head, but I'm afraid it's not going to happen. He's getting a tiny bit old and Farah seems to be in his prime. Farah will probably be able to answer anything Bekele throws at him the same way Bekele answered anything Gebrselassie threw at him on the track.
I'm still holding out hope, though. I'm sick of Farah, sick of Rupp, and sick of everything being about Salazar/Nike.
Sometimes one can make one's point better by not saying anything at all, and simply letting the obvious facts fill the vacuum created by the ill-mannered comments of someone who didn't know. This was such a case.

farah is a late developer(lol nike) and bekele already done it all
but bekele and farah basically the same age

Whoa...13:18 is only 3 seconds off the US A standard if I recall correctly. There are going to be dudes in the 5k that don't run 13:18. Who are they going to hire that they think can do this? Even if the pacer doesn't hit his mark, you would imagine they would only hire a pacer they think can achieve this time...
Farah won Pre last year in 26:46. If the plan is to blow Farah out of the water with a fast pace, they may need another plan.
lol theres no problem getting a 13-18 pacemaker lol
Fact: Last time Bekele ran a 10K at Hayward Field, he went through the first 5K, paced by his brother, in 13:06.
He faded to 26:22, but he was attempting to break the WR at Hayward. 13:18 seems reasonable.

Another good question: Why is Ritz in the 5k instead of this race? He has said this will be his last year where he really focuses on the track and wants to break 27 minutes. Not too many more fast 10ks after this one.
He's saving it to make the USA team at 10k, in Des Moines.

He was overly optimistic about his fitness after recovery from injury last year.
This year he has a years plus training without injury (presumably).

Well said.
Learn from this A Duck. You seem to be one of five who let silly, uneducated trolls/unknowns get to you. Makes you look weak, and your childish replies does nothing good.
Take the advice of Montesquieu. Learn something.
Why so much Farah hate on here?
As for Farah sitting and kicking . . . Bekele does that too. As for being lucky . . . Sammy Wanjiru was lucky that Haile Gebrselassie ran the 10000 in Beijing.
Farah FTW.

Give me a f*cking break. Wanjiru is the greatest marathoner of all time - Geb isn't even top 10.

What the heck are you talking about? Nobody but Noone was beating Sammy in Beijing. That Olympic triumph remains to this day THEE greatest marathon performance of all time.
