My Idea for Indoor and Outdoor Qualifying Procedures:
INDOOR:
If you are in the top 4 (individual events) or top 3 (relay events) heading into last chance weekend. Your national bid is locked. The remaining spots will be filled via descending order list including last chance weekend performances.
This allows for the true top 16 indiv/top 12 relay system with no autos but allows the top 25% of the field security going into last chance weekend.
OUTDOOR:
Combine East and West Regionals to a Mega Prelim meet held at the national championship site.
The top 72 athletes nationally compete in one meet. instead of (Top 48 east + Top 48 west)
The meet will run the 1 or 2 race system to narrow the field down to 24 athletes.
Then 2 weeks later have the national meet.
