Karma doesn't exist.
Let me preface this by saying I wish Lucas nothing but the best and give him all the respect in the world for trying to make a comeback after his horrific crash. I really am pulling for him.
That being said, he wouldn't have been in that crash if he hadn't abandoned his Oregon teammates. He realized he all of a sudden was a small fish in a big pond, and his ego couldn't handle it. That's all it was. I can understand why some people at Oregon would be bitter.
I wish him the best, and hope he can can close to doing as well as he was prior to the accident. That would give hope to many others who have had or may have something happen when they feel otherwise bombproof, and on top of their world. Good comeback stories can be cautionary tales, stories of squandered opportunity, and stories of determination to test what is possible again. Made for movies stuff here people, and he didn't have to die to add to the mystery.
Sounds kinda funny but right now Cain has a better 1500 this season than a (former) sub 4 miler. Look 4:10 to 4:11.
Does anyone have the link to the results of this meet ??
To all those people talking about Karma coming back to get him, I can't blame them. I really wish him the best, and would love to see his potential as an athlete, but.... I've been around him more than I would have liked and know others who train/trained with him. And there are a lot of things that rub me the wrong way because there is a huge contrast to how he is portrayed in the media and reality.
-He didn't really leave Oregon because he wanted to follow his passion for tri (at least not for the most part). He couldn't stand not being the superstar and not being the largest fish in the pond.
-The crash was mostly his fault. Not very much like it was described in reports.
-A lot of articles talked about his amazing attitude and positive outlook during recovery. From what I saw and heard he was overwhelmingly negative, cynical, and generally an unpleasant diva.
-He's already jumped ship from the tri program he joined in Colorado, which he abandoned Oregon to join. All the people that helped him in his recovery and his step father who's got him to where he is now.
Now, to be fair, he is young and talented, and sometimes that is hard to deal with. I hope he can mature and figure things out better for himself. It would be great to see him thrive both athletically and as a person. It's just hard for me to see all this positive press that is untrue in many areas. There are plenty of athletes who are under-hyped that are not only talented but great and positive people in the media and in private. I know sports are a contest of athletics, not a nice guy competition, but it just turns me off to see poor attitudes. The competition seems pointless if people are jerks off the field of play.
I think he should have redshirted XC at Oregon after World Tri. That said, he may not have wanted to do 2-3 years of tolilong before getting to the top of NCAAs. He loved the tri more. He would have moved on in a year or two.
I hope he becomes a great Tri racer. If he does not love running, he will never be an elite distance runner. Do what you love.

keep telling yourself that. and sleep tight.
Please enlighten us on the topic of your inside info into the conspiracy surrounding Lukas Verzbicas' crash. You are obviously in the know.
Look up the word "hubris."
He admits it to be his fault in nearly every interview. 'Coach told us to take it easy, I was going faster than I should have been because of my competitive nature, and because I was going so fast I lost control on some sand and ate it'
Calling you out. Anyone can say that they'e close to the situation, give us some details, troll.

Bullcrap dog. He had another year of eligibility left of High School. He graduated a year early so that he could go up against college competition quicker since he was dominating the High School scene. If he wanted to be the largest fish, he would have stayed in High School for another year, won a third XC national title, and break more high school records.

Or maybe he didn't want to be in high school anymore
He would have been 19 if he stayed an extra year in high school, and knew he would have looked a fool.
Right now he is a 4:10 1500m runner and a 15 minute 5000m runner. The top tri guy just ran 28:30 for 10,000. I hope LV has a Plan B, college, job, etc.
Yeah, because he isn't going to run any faster and he hasn't show crazy improvement after suffering a major injury. When Solinsky ran 8:05 indoors, he should have just hung em up realizing he wasn't going to make it back...oh wait. He just ran 13:23 looking much fitter. Are you insane? Why not give LV credit and acknowledge his vast recovery/improvement?
That is very inconsiderate to steal a spot away from a more deserving person who would actually NEED such a high seed. Typical egomaniac triathlete. He is done.

That 5K is way better than his 1500. I would guess he probably has done very little if any speed work and that going out in 60 just crushed him in the 1500. Obviously he has a long way to go to get back to where he was but very impressive considering the circumstances.
Both of his races are extremely impressive to me.

??? Verzbicas was already 19 when he left high school. Are you implying he should have stayed in high school another year and been a 20-year old? He was already a year older than he should have been, but you're saying he should have stayed and been 2 years older than every other senior?
I don't even count his 8:29 as a high school mark since he was 19. That's college age, not high school age.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
