What an awesome thread. Track needs way more heels, hope AJ gets fast again.

Mentally, Acosta is just another whiny, colicky pre-adolescent. Potential sponsors realize it's all about AJ all of the time. Babysitters are expensive these days. It must suck for the persona Acosta has so assiduously cultivated to be so fully rejected. You got nothing, dude.
Seriously...I wouldn't touch that guy with a ten foot pole.

AJ Acosta = Uncle Ruslan.
I've gotten a couple shoe deals in my late thirties and early forties and I'm not even on the level of upper echelon high school runners at 5000m and up. So, I'd think that a 3:53 miler would be worth a shoe deal. But he's got a lot of comp for scarce dollars right now.

On a separate note, why the is the OTC using RunnerSpace to host their website? That site is horrible, I would think a group like the OTC could hire a half-decent programmer to build them a respectable one.
OTC Elite used to have a site, and it was actually pretty sweet, but it must have gotten too expensive to maintain or something because I can't seem to find it anywhere.
I know AJ and have had my issues with him. But he is not stupid, and in the right setting is in fact charismatic and a leader. For AJ I don't see it being about the money, so forget your 181k salary, I see it being about his pride.
The people with pride we mock when they fall, but they also tell the stories, dream the dreams, and live hard.
Don't tell him how to live. I'm not saying he is doing it right, but I doubt "funny" is really living that much better of a life with all that bitterness inside.
I wish him the best. It is tough to be a professional runner these days. Tough sport to make money and live.

So you're saying he's too proud to buy shoes? That strikes me more as arrogance/thinking he's better than he is than pride.
I hope the quote was just for show and that he isn't actually so poor, "proud", and stupid that he'll risk injury by not doing a simple thing like buying proper footwear.

Web hosting is like 5 bucks a month. Must have been some other reason. I'm pretty sure RunnerSpace is based in Oregon, so maybe there was some kind of deal made. Whatever it was though, I think OTC got the raw end of it because that site sucks. I would build them a better one for free.
Check out the guy's twitter account and figure out if you would sponsor him if you were a corporation.
the fact AJ is complaining about shoes publicly is a great indicator of his idiotic mentality, no company wants to sign up for that shi*
Does AJ really have no job whatsoever or does he just not want to pay for shoes?
If he were to come out of the closet like Jason Collins, the world would be his oyster.
Nation we need to turn our lonely eyes to AJ. Woo Hoo Who
AJ has announced he is not going to bathe or wash his clothes anymore until someone gives him a contract!
whats his shoe size and adress, I'll mail him a pair.
70 bucks is two 5 hours shifts at McDonalds. He needs to get a damn job.
I ran 4:33, 15:29, and 32:29 and I got free shoes. He isn't trying hard enough.
There is no way you ran 15:29 with only a 4:33 mile pr.
Thats like running your mile pace for 3 miles basically.
