No, he's a 2;04 guy with a tail win.
And by your logic, then how do you explain what happened to all of the 2:03 guys today.
rojo is as illiterate as us

Hall hasn't run a good marathon in a while now, and I'm not sure it's fair to him or the other Americans (Hartmann) to hypothesize on Hall pr'ing right now, much less winning a major. No, it wouldn't be totally out of the question, but highly unlikely to materialize. Don't get me wrong, because I like Hall, but I don't see him being the one to break through and legitimately compete with the east Africans.
got to go with this answer. he isn't racing and hasn't raced well for a while.
It may be grasping at straws, but during one of the Mt Sac races loaded onto Flotrack, the announcers said they had spoken to him that day and he said he was back training/doing well. Hope he got his hamstring et al figured out and Canova can get him back on track.
Hall would have gone with the leaders and blown up as bad as anyone. 2:10-2:12

As much as I would have loved for this to happen, we would undoubtedly hear a whole bunch of "glory be to god", "I felt gods might", and "god is so great" in post-race interviews for WEEKS.
So what? I'm not religious but I wonder why it bothers people to hear religious people talk about it. Scared of something? You think you might be doing something wrong? I admit, eternal hell would suck big time.
The problem with Ryan Hall is that he put his 2:04 in the Mcmillan Calculator and ever since adjusted his training paces accordingly:
tempo runs @ 4:30
mile intervals @ 4:12
This led to multiple injuries.
If he really wants to get back to his real abilities (ie high 2:06/low 2:07), he needs to adjust his training paces accordingly.
Aren't you supposed to train at goal pace? Date pace has its time and place too.

I disagree on this one , I think Hall would have went with the early crazy pace and would have flamed out.
This is not about dreaming its about facts and history.
If Hall would have run with a game plan and stuck to it no matter what was going on up front , just maybe...
Hall's usually pretty good about racing within his personal limits. He's never really blown up in a race, has he? Yeah, he'll push the pace if he feels good, but nothing like the crazy surges in the first half of today's race.
I like hall. He seems like a cool guy. But to answer the question if he ran today, i believe he would have gotta the first non african title. Thats probably worth a holiday in his hometown. I hate that title btw. And it just a real shamful title and i dont know how people can thinks its ok. Maybe they should have a weaker heat for the non africans.
I actually thought about this when I saw the results. Great minds think alike Rojo
Imagine how slow he is going to be when the WADA ban hormone therapy. Dutch officials tried unsuccessfully to have it banned in 2010, but now we know it is being used as a PED, has long-term negative effects on health, and athletes stockpile their meds to use more of them before competition it will be banned.
40% of the top 10 US marathon times were achieved utilizing hormone therapy!

Congratulations on completely not getting it.

I have never seen a win-at-all-cost mentality from this guy.
Never?
Do you remember his first marathon in London? Around mile 23 he took the lead and said to the front-leaders, let's pick it up. They were wondering who he was. But being his first marathon, he couldn't hang on to that pace.
Do you remember Boston 2011? Yes, there was a tailwind, but he led the race for the first 15 miles until the Kenyans surged in the Newton Hills and he would've blown up hanging on to their surge. He wasn't just showing off for the first 15 miles but was running his own race to win it.
Do you remember him winning the half in Houston in 59:43? Think about that for a minute. Has another white boy run sub-60?
True, we haven't seen that from Hall of late, but I think mostly due to nagging injuries that have interrupted his training. It's easy to forget that at elite levels of racing, small interruptions can keep you from being in 2:06 shape. Everything has to go very well to be in that kind of shape.

Then you haven't been paying attention. Think London. Think Boston, where Big Elephant was out in front. Geoffrey Mutai said "it was like having a rabbit."
Have to also say, imagine if Hall was injury-free and ran Boston. I think he would've won it. Weak mens field there this year.

Hall's London PR is 2:06:17 from 2008.
Everyone knows he loves to run his own pace.
Could he possibly run a PR by himself- just running his own pace like he loves to do?
The most race hyped race in history goes out on WR pace. Everyone blows up. Hall passes one, then two, etc.
Imagine if he mowed down the field doing that. It would have been real interesting at the end.
Men: Official Results
1. Tsegaye Kebede ETH 2:06:04
2. Emmanuel Mutai KEN 2:06:34
A tiny PR and he's got the victory.
Totally out of the question??

Surprised you didn't mention that when he ran that 2:06:17 they went out in 61:30. I'd say yes.
I have never seen a win-at-all-cost mentality from this guy.
At least two: António Pinto and Fábio Roncero[quote]i think otherwise wrote:
I was thinking that exact same thing about Boston, but I think it is possible. But what about those races where he runs in the front. Would he have gone with the front runners or run his own race?
Second, it is so weird not seeing Abderrahim Goumri in the results.
It bothers me because it's idiotic
Normal people use hormone therapy, why aren't THEY running 2:05. Some of them look ginormous, I've seen them leaving the Dr.s office.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
I think Letesenbet Gidey might be trying to break 14 this Saturday
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
