Not too shabby. Leo is perhaps the greatest American miler of all time.

Glad to see Symmonds running a mile
Huling will be right with Jäger this season. Those 2 and Cabrall are only 815 runners we have.
Way to go Cory......Ohio state Buckeye!!!!!!
There is one thing that Cory learned at a young age in HS that Jeff See never did (saw both run since JH).....he learned to race and push. Cory went for it when he was young and its paying off now.

What makes you say that? The way Leslie is running, I could him challenging Huling for sure. Huling has never been the toughest guy out there......
Emmanuel got beat by an 18 year old indoors, so I don't see that as much of a scalp.
I agree, I think Leslie ran low 8:20's last year? No reason he can't be in the hunt for that 3rd spot. I certainly don't think Huling is a lock for a spot
Leslie is the next break out American young runner to watch. 1:50.7 800 and 3:49 1500 in high school. Very competitive minded and dedicated. I've watched him run since high school and every single track race I watched him run he never laid back. He thinks he should win every race and runs that way and if it doesn't work out he doesn't let it bother him and comes back and races the same way the next race.

Try 8:31. This guy has been "full if potential" for 3 yrs now. On 2011, he ran a 3:57 indoors, but only finished 18th at Nats in the steeple. You can't just plug in sub 4:00 guys.
He needs to be competive on the big stag before i believe anything. Sorry fan boys truth hurts.

Well, he may not have run low 8:20's, but I think he was probably better than 8:31 realistically. He placed 9th at the trials after a long NCAA season (we all know how tough that is). I give him a top 5 placing at USA's.
Best case scenerio for him, he gets the A standard before USA's, USA's is tactical race and he outkicks most everyone to steal a spot on the team.
BUT IT IS REALLY EARLY IN SEASON TO SAY FOR SURE!

Is Jager even running steeple this year?

I would certainly assume so, he stated his goal is to break 8:00. He also has a 0% chance off cracking the 5k team, which would be his second best event.
My Moscow Predicts:
800-Symmonds, Duane, Jock/Sowinski
1500- Centro, Leo, Andrews
Steeple- Jager, Cabral, Leslie (I'll play along)
5k- Rupp, Lomong, Bumbi
10k- Rupp, Teg, Ritz

What exactly has Bumbi done at any point in his life that would make you think he could beat Lagat? Lagat could toast him in literally any distance from 100m to Marathon...

How did Cabral do after the NCAA season? Excuses, excuses.

Also, I think Derrick will handle Teg easily. Not to mention Lomong is likely better than Bumbi as well.
Chris Derrick will probably make the team this year in the 10K. Ben True will also be a strong contender in the 5K or 10K, based upon his great race in World Cross and out-kicking the mile field at Mt. Sac two days ago.

I am not sold on True like most people, certainly won't make 5k team, maybe 10k. I thought about putting Derrick on my 10k picks, but I think he'll just barely be left out again, Ritz is just such a "go-to" for qualifying, same goes for Teg.
I put Bumbi on the 5k team because I like his speed at the end, I predict Lagat loses a step with another year of aging and Bumbi nips him for a spot.
Leslie is definitely one of the fastest steeplers but I disagree with the poster who claimed his form was good
Apologies if I missed it, is there a video of this race online?
