Are you serious? He is a past winner of the race. He isn't pacing.

1:42:47 at 35km for BIwott. WR pace is 1:42.33 so that's out.
He or someone should be able to get the Course record of 2:04:40 ashe's on what about 2:04 flat pace.
452 for 22nd mile. He can't run much slower than that if he wants CR.
They are saying biwott loses a lot of races late. This could get interesting.
4:52 mile 22

Totally fair, I really don't know why I thought that. Must have misread a comment earlier and was confused.
Funny that I have it the same way but I alived by accidental testing of several links at a time!

congratulations to her for still finishing, even when she knows she won't get first
maybe solinsky could learn something from her...
Yes. As could DNF Galen.
No. Rupp is just a hard worker. Solinsky is a drama queen. Big difference.
Course record pace is 4:45 per mile. The 23 mile split for that if you are running even paced is 1:49:15 so let's see how that compares.
I'd say he wants to be 1:48:45 to be safe.
Mutai is going to catch him!!! wow.

WTF - why was there a white guy ahead of him in the race???
Did anyone see that?
I had the same thought.
Legally blind -- started early.
They're saying he's Moroccan. Probably doped.
Main BBC feed is sshowning a blind guy. Thank god for the elite men's feed as the main feed is missing mutai catching and passing biwott at 1:47:45 mark!!!!!!
Mutai closing up on Biwott
On course to 2:03:55. Get 20 seconds, and you have a new wr. Although I don't believe, because of the sun.
And now Emmanuel Mutai, what a race from him!
2:04:21 pace through 23 miles for mutai
Kawauchi won Nagano in terrible conditions today in 2:14:27
More than 20 seconds off that...but still hauling away from Biwott, who must be blowing up hard.

.
mile 23 5:06 Mutai away
Course record is over.
5:06 23rd mile and yet he caught Biwott and took lead.
He's basically right on 2:04:40 pace but htat's 4:45 pace.
I'd say 2:05 lowish.
And yet again, I've been proven to be correct. World record hype and talk kind of ruins a race.
The guys clearly were forcing it early. If they'd just let these guys race, it would have been epic.
The early pace really destroyed the field.
From 20k to 25k they ran 14:30.
Then the next 5k they ran 25k to 30k they slowed 21 seconds running 14:51
Despite slowing this much, most of the main contenders got dropped. Kebede fell 19 seconds back, Kipsang, 25 seconds, Mutai a minute back.
If they want the WR here they'll have to hold the guys back.
1:49:09 was 23 mile split
A 2:05 guy needed to run a Jason Hartman race and start sweeping them all up at the end, with 4:50-4:55s making up a lot per mile in the last stages.
