Such is life in the United States of America.
She dropped a bomb, so there will probably be quite a few more.

Ya'll are pretty pathetic.
I'd be willing to bet that a pretty decent percentage of Ms. Martinez' DNA is actually "of American origin."
Although the Spaniards did their best to kill as many of the natives as possible, many of them survived and many of their descendents look a lot like Ms. Martinez.

When it comes to ending the American distance medal drought as far as most lestrunners are concerned, only an "American" like Galen Rupp or Nick Willis seems to do.
You're cracking me up.
she calls herself mexican only as a way of differentiating herself from the race of the others at her first track tryout.
The low standards among you people are depressing. You can't even fantasize about good-looking athletes. How sad.
you guys maybe want to make comments about the race and this person's running ability and potential, instead of petty squabbles tangential to her looks, for a change?

Wherever she is from - sexiest md runner at the moment? She is a hot piece of ass!
Agreed. Kind of similar to being Special Olympic champ. But agreed.
A personal record, and follows some pretty solid performances at the end of last year. Let's hope we see continued well-deserved success.
Very few women in the world could go out and run a solo 4:04 like that. She has also broken 2 minutes in the 800 multiple times. Given her speed, she could be a strong medal contender in the World Champs this summer.
Mexico! Mexico! Mexico! la senorita Martinez is looking very nice. In all aspects Mexico, Mexico, Mexico!!! Viva Mexico!!!
Viva la mi Silicone Valley.
Come here.
I don't think anyone's mentioned that she is coached by Joe Vigil.
quite a solid run from Martinez, and given the way she was running later last year it won't surprise me to see her run well come worlds. Mexican, American, whatever her background is, one thing is certain - it will be the American singlet she'll be pulling on and that is a singlet you don't wear if you don't have American pride in you.\/ As for THIS fool.....

Thank you. I'm not sure why people on here have a problem admitting that. Like it's taboo to say it. She is SMOKING hot though.
Ummm...where to even begin. Maybe you two boys are thinking that "American" is synonymous with "white"?

Your short term memory fails you. Rowbury was 1/2 second off a bronze medal in London. Ranked #1 in the USA and 5th in the world. Please explain how Rowbury has not benn "quite at this level in years".
It is April. Great that she has the standard. She has been racing a lot and is obviously race sharp. I repeat, it is April!
The fact that it's April is what distinguishes this performance so much. Rowbury has run one 4:03 since 2010, so unless you believe that Martinez has completely screwed up her training, this is more impressive than a late-season 4;03 in a rabbited race.
Rowbury's 6th place at the Olympics was terrific, but it was a very short moment of near-glory for her in the midst of a prolonged drought.
Actually 5th, and possibly as high as 2nd once you eliminate the other obvious dopers.

Annoying dude: I made a simple statement that Martinez looks to me like a near lock to make the US team this year. You disagree. Let's wait until the August to decide if I'm a moron.
I think that if Martinez stays healthy, she should be stronger this summer and capable of 4-flat in a fast race. That's Rowbury's PR, and it's five years old, so I think she's less likely to get back to that level in her late twenties. You disagree.
Wish there were a way to bet on it with a angry anonymous internet bullies.
