So, what do you base your predictions on? It seems golfers can play to a very advanced age compared to other sports and Tiger is relatively young. Angel Cabrera almost won it and is 6 years older than Tiger and Jack was probably about the same. Also odd, Tiger recently became #1, which would at least increase his chances compared to when he was not winning anything. So, what about Phil and others who did worse than Tiger (basically #4 to bottom) are they ever gonna win anything or is it just Tiger's failure you are interested in?
Thanks for the reasonable response.
I am not sure if you saw the original thread which was deleted for no apparent reason (I don't know, perhaps somebody insulted flaggy or something). At any rate I started the original thread over a year ago with the exact same subject line based on nothing more than the look that Tiger has in his eyes. His confidence, his killer stare...all seem gone. His body language says fear within rather than striking fear in others. I compared it to Bjorn Borg's look after winning his Wimbledon marathon - a look which immediately struck me as "I'm not willing to ever go through this again" - which Borg ultimately did not.
So, do I think that Tiger is talented enough to win again? Definitely. Is he too old? Definitely not. Are the odds in my favor for being right with this prediction? Most would say 'no'. But then, if the odds are in your favor it is not much of a prediction.
Now, regarding a few particulars from your post:
So, what about Phil and others who did worse than Tiger (basically #4 to bottom) are they ever gonna win anything?
I do not think that Phil will ever win another major for entirely different reasons than Tiger. Phil is simply no longer good enough. Tiger is a much better player at this time (as he has been for virtually all of the last however many years). Tiger is also more than five years younger than Phil - a huge advantage at this point in giving Tiger more of a shot than Phil to win a major again.
is it just Tiger's failure you are interested in?
I am not interested in Tiger's failure at all, at least not in the sense of some sort of personal interest. As I have stated repeatedly I am neither pro-Tiger nor anti-Tiger. If others are pro-Tiger and take some sort of umbrage at someone predicting that their hero will never win another major, that is their problem. As for me, it is a simple prediction.
