hopefully they'll have 15 different camera angles of the bombs being dropped off and the dick who did it was stupid enough not to cover his face.
This is sad.

You know nothing about Muslims. They are not terrorists. Terrorists are terrorists, including Americans. Religious preference does not play a part.
Apparently, you've never read the Koran.
http://sultanknish.blogspot.com/2013/04/sharias-sticks-and-stones.htmlIf Islam were trying to return to the origins of Judaism and Christianity, it took the wrong road around. Mohammed's GPS may have told him he was headed to Jerusalem, but instead he ended up in Mecca. That is what happens when you attach a GPS to a flying horse and religious ideas to petty banditry. Jewish and Christian scriptures were not obsessed with the need to compel their wives to cover their faces to avoid being raped on the spot by their own cousins. That is the tradition and culture which originated Muslim modesty among bandit camps where some captured women were held as captive slaves and others were held as the property of their husbands and telling them apart was handled in the crudest way possible.
When your wedding canopy is a knife at her throat, and your "meet-cute" was burning her village, there's good reason to fear her disobedience. And when your relationship is based on being the first man to grab her as she made a run for it, there is good reason to keep her inside or cover her from head to toe. You may be her first rapist, but your cousins and friends will have no objection to being her second and third. When rape is legal, and every adult male around you is a potential rapist, then purdah and headbags are a natural way for fathers and husbands to protect their investment.
There is nothing spiritual about Muslim modesty. It is, as Blair said, "Practical". In a society of rapists, women had better remain at home, cover up, or end up like Lara Logan. But you don't have to be a blonde at a celebration of Egyptian democracy to be assaulted. It happens just as often in the UK now. Take Abul Malik of Trafalgar Road, who raped a female passenger when she couldn't cover the full fare. And why not. Back in Pakistan, rape is a time honored means of restitution. And now so it is in the UK.
We can of course go on pretending that all this ugly and sordid stuff has nothing to do with the high-minded ideals of the Koran and go on cheering the Sharia councils who “are doing their damnedest” to make Islam compatible with liberal democracy. Except it isn't Islam that they are making compatible with liberal democracy, rather it is liberal democracy that they are making compatible with Islam.

"Boston globe reports the guy in the photo ran PB of 2;33 and was waiting for his wife to finish"
Don't even know what to say.
That got to me - I can't begin to imagine

I say the LR community rallies around this man. Someone knows him on here if he's a 2:33 guy. Put his name out there, start a fund, something. I'm in.
This guy is in blades (fully paid for) next April, running Boston 2014 with his wife.
I would say that this sounds like the work of domestic terrorism as well. We will shortly be at the anniversaries of the Oklahoma City bombings (one of the biggest domestic terrorism attacks in history) and the Waco - Branch Davidians incident (both are 4/19). Granted this is the 15th, but it makes us, if not anything else, remember that there are sick Americans walking amongst us.
I would say a terrorist attack that was the product of a lot of planning would have yielded a much larger death toll. The explosives used were quite small and not really matching the shrapnel-style bombs that are so ubiquitous in the middle east. These bombs went off and did some damage, but the bombs that the the Taliban and other extremist groups are strapping to suicide bombers in Afghanistan would have killed dozens in this densely packed area.
I consider it a minor miracle that we're only talking about two people dying. It is a tragedy and this is something we will never forget, but in that crowded of a space, we are really lucky it wasn't 2 dozen.
I can't keep this down. My 5 year old son and I watched the elite women and men finish this morning. We watched in front of the Tannery, directly across from the Lenox hotel. Everyone in the crowd was so friendly and happy. It was so exciting to see Shalane and Hartman finish so well. We had made it home by the time of the explosions but the fact that we were right at the spot shocks me to the core.
2:33 makes it one of 10 possibilities, assuming the time is correct.
It'd be nice if people held off on the politics until we have the slightest clue what happened. All we know is that there were small bombs, probably at ground level, and there was a guy with a backpack (maybe). Nothing at all to inspire rants about Muslims or the Christian right or the Tea Party or whatever other unpopular group might pop into your head.
I agree with this. Sounds like a lone wolf type operation. That can make it harder to identify the POS.
Well, a guy in the club I coach ran one of the 2:33s. He's from Japan, an ultra-runner (Shinji Nakadai), obviously it's not him. He finished right around this competitor.
Holy shit are you serious

Newtown survivors were honored guests of the BAA today and reportedly were at the VIP area at the finish line. Not sure if any were still there when the explosions took place,
Maybe lets runners could put the same effort into going through the thousands of race photos looking for clues that we put into catching Kip Litton
Doctors pulling ball bearings out of victims, per CNN:

Meaning this a**hole wanted to maim as many as possible.
Boston Globe is also reporting that police are talking to a person of interest.
Don't jump to conclusions. They aren't sure if the attack was domestic or foreign.

I'm reluctant to guess at any names in case I'm wrong. But if you search the last names of the 10 2:33s, it seems like there are only two possibilities based on female runners with the same last name. Finishing times 2:33:31 and 2:33:40. Anyone know either of those guys?
Wake up world !!! He is right and correct !
Coworker told me it probably had to do with some Newtown shooting parents being along the course. Haven't confirmed that yet.
