I'd say he's the best overall. But he's probably not the best miler or best 2miler... Saarel is better than him, and one of Cheserek, Montoya, or Burcham will likely beat him in the mile. Over 800m, he completely holds court.

best 800, probably best miler (montoya cheserek also have sub 4 potential) Top 5 3200m guy. That is really sick. Probably the only one of them that can go sub 50 in 400m also.

No way those guys take the kick out of a 1:47 FAT and 8:51 in the mile, especially since he ran those times in Florida heat and humidity. If you haven't raced there or somewhere comparable, please reserve judgement. 85+ degrees and humid for me was worth 6-7 seconds in a 1500m compared to Mt. Sac or Stanford conditions. I would run 3:48 in TX and then 3:41-2 in California.
That being said, I think it would take 3:57 high to beat him in ideal conditions. If one of those guys has that in them, sure. I doubt that though.
Not sure where in Fl that was but it was hot today in Central Florida and very humid this afternoon, so this is worth ten seconds or more with comp (he won by 44 seconds and lapped many) and better weather. one of the all time great hs'ers, no doubt.

Brutally hot for 3200.

Are numbers on singlets a rule in Florida? I have literally never seen a race where every runner has a number on the back.
He's extremely talented, but not really a competitor per say. He runs better when he knows he's the class of the field. not sure how it'll play out with a bunch of dudes right with him on that last lap...
Is this kid the second coming of German Fernandez? Dang...
Seriously, why has he not raced stiffer competition? Obviously he needs to be in races with guys on his level and not a bunch of kids excited to break 10 flat.
is Arroyo black and puerto rican, possibly cuban?
He looks like a black kid with latin mixture.
Dude is a front runner. 2:07/4:21 splits on that 3200. 58/1:58 split on his 4:04. 1:18 on this 1:47.
No one will be around him to challenge him. He'll just run the legs off guys like Montoya (who sits and kicks) and the Kenyan. Burcham shouldn't even be in this conversation - his season has stunk this year.
So this guy is running the Adidas dream mile in front of a lot of NYC spectators. No way he'll be able to contain himself. He will go out in some crazy split and dare anyone to follow him.

It would be silly to start changing his tactics at Adidas. He has plenty of time in the next 4 years to adapt his tactics to deal with stronger fields...
Seeing as he went from 7:48 to 8:51 that would be a 63second last lap; NOT a 55. 55 would put him at 8:43
if you watch any of races other than the recent ones where he's one my 25+ seconds. he isn't a front runner. he actually is a sit-and-kick runner. he front ran those races because was lightyears ahead of everyone and was looking to PR.
watch his races from last year. he doesn't lead.

Dude ran New Balance indoors and got dusted. He's talented. We have no idea how he'll do when pressed.
Only two for the distances that count 800 and two miles...too bad he did not run the additional 18+ meters. 3200 meters is a non event.

Too bad you're 30 years behind the times. 3200 has been around since the early 80s and is run in almost every state meet. Get over it.Back to Arroyo, can't help but wonder if all of these hard efforts in non-competitive meets is going to leave him with much gas come late May and June when it really matters nationally.

Dude ran that in lane 2 the whole race from lapping those squatters. whats the conversion of 6 of the 8 laps in lane 2?
8:51 solo in the heat/humidity indicates better fitness than an 8:45 in ideal conditions with a ton of competition. Both Arroyo and Saarel are fit enough to run under 8:40. Who has better fitness over that distance? We won't know unless they get into a non-HS only field where they are taken to their limit.
