i think shalane made a mistake by running so slow with the pack. gonna say that her chances are gone.
shame.

Larry has worked about why Kenya produces so many good runners.
They're not carrying groceries.

awesome
The train almost closed the gap!
5:58 21st mile for Dulce Felix. That includes Heartbreak Hill.
If that split is right you'd think she might be in trouble but she looks ok.
She is not turning and looking way over her shoulder very often.
Ths could be interesting. Let's check the gap at 35k.
What am I missing? These people are professional runners but they can't run the tangents???

Gap is 1:02! They're coming back!!!!!
she looks good. only 20 minutes of running for her. over a minute for shalane to pick up.. it's not going to happen.

What the hell are you watching? She's looking over her shoulder every 30 seconds.
Women chasers are starting to fly!
Let's go Shalane!
Looks like Goucher is gone

1 minute is not a huge gap for the end of a marathon. They'll make a run at it.
Felix is dead meat...
Lead got cut a bit (about 10 seconds over the last mile). This could get interesting by the end if this keeps up...
two awesome races here
Unless Felix blows up big time, I think she may have it. Form looking better now, must've been the hills. And with the time differential, the chase pack is gonna have to drop some serious negative splits.
A real shame. Flanagan could've been right up there if she'd only run her own race. But she's never been one to do that. I think she's keeps on thinking that she can rely on her 10K speed to reel in anyone, and so she allows these runners to make the break, and doesn't do anything about it.
She could be far, far better than she is, and it's her own fault.
Ok she was 1:06 ahead at 35k 2:02:38
Rita Jeptoo 2:03:44. Flanagan there and goucher STILL TOGETHER in the pack.
The pack had better break up now and go after her.
They have to make up 1:06 in 4.5 miles. It's doable. The women are in the back of the screen.
Supposedly the lead is now 56 seconds.
Just heard the lead is 50 seconds. If she has really lost 16 seconds in the last 5 minutes (we're 2:08:00 in and officially the lead was 1:06 at 35k at 2:02:38), that means they'll get her.
Women are coming on strong! 50 second gap. Shalane in the mix.
