I've never seen it, but doesn't one of those CSI shows begin with The Who's "Who Are You?"
Another "classic rock" song as a TV theme was Billy Joel's "My Life" in "Bosom Buddies".
But I much prefer The Who.

Another vote for Hawaii five 0.
For all the classic fans and dog owners, theme to lassie should be nominated.
Woke up this morning got yourself a gun mama always said you'd be the chosen one. You're one in a million you've got to burn to shine, but you were born under a bad sign with a blue moon in your eyes.
GOT
I would have to say Big Bang theory is one of my favorite, followed by the Batman theme song(s). Also as for Childrens Shows, SPONGEBOB WINS NO BRAINER
Pokemon theme song for sure!

This song also inspired the greatest answering machine recording ever:
Believe it or not, george isn't at home. Please leave a message at the beep. I must be out or can't the phone. Where could I be? Believe it or not, I'm not home!
Starsky and Hutch.
I don't know how many of your letsrunners are anime fans, but if you've never heard of gundam wing, take a look at it's opening clip

Giant fighting robots. Way cooler than transformers
Movin On. A forgettable mid 70s show starring Claude Akin and some boy toy that were truckers. Theme song by Merle Haggard. "Big Wheels Rollin, movin' on..... Big Wheels Rollin Movin' on. Got keep em rolling, Got to keep em going, Big Wheels Rollin movin on.
Then something about Will and Sonny blah blah Steady hand and steely eyes, good hot cup of coffee waitin up ahead.....and on an on.
Come to think of it, Dukes of Hazard was better. Same era of crappy television. Waylon Jennings theme song, and narration. But why a Texan would sing for and narrate a show set in Southeastern Kentucky never made sense-particularly when there was no shortage of Kentuckian hillbilly artists.
MacGyver
Hill Street Blues. Hello? Did I just miss it or is this really the first time it's been mentioned?
Of the ones mentioned already, I'll go with Cheers, Greatest American Hero and Highlander.
Seinfeld
Step By Step
Airwolf
Overture, curtains, lights,
This is it, the night of nights
No more rehearsing and nursing a part
We know every part by heart
Overture, curtains, lights
This is it, you'll hit the heights
And oh what heights we'll hit
On with the show this is it
Tonight what heights we'll hit
On with the show this is it
Best themes songs ... a tie between
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
and
Xena Warrior Princess
Best TV theme song ever:
I am Adam, Prince of Eternia and Defender of the Secrets of Castle Grayskull
Fabulous powers were revealed to me the day I held aloft my magic sword and said
By the Power of Grayskull! I have the power!
Cringer became the mighty Battle-Cat
And I became He-Man... the most powerful man in the universe!
(singing starts... He-man.... He-man....)
Only three others share our secret - our friends Tila, Man at Arms, and Orco
Together we defend Castle Grayskull from - the evil forces of Skeletor!
2nd best, and best rock theme song:
Scooby Doo, Where are you
The Muppets theme song
