Has anyone ever gotten their arm broke in a race and then come back to win? Jw
AWESOME!
I am a former steepler.
I would like to list Brian as Reckless Runner of the week and give him some free swag. Whatever is allowable by NCAA...
If anyone knows him please have him contact me at
Scratch that...I'm still a steepler. I've got one more in me. The rest of the message stands.
^ nice. Badass. I broke my wrist in the water pit on lap 3 in HS... finished and set a new school record by 42 seconds... although it was only an improvement on my own SR, and I didnt know it was broken until I couldn't take my shoes off after. This dude is definitely more badass.
I went to high school with Brian and I have to say that if anyone out there would have the guts to finish like that, it would almost certainly be him. Here's hoping for a fast recovery.
On a side note, Brian was actually the guy who first told me about LetsRun.com.
Here is video of the race. It doesn't show him at the fall or the break, but you can hear the "bang" of the barrier when he falls, and then you can hear/see some of the crowd reactions over his final 200m.

Am I the only one who thinks this might have been a bad idea? Risking permanent damage so you can finish some race?
Yep, son, you're the only one.
