Anyone interested in 3:48, 8:09, 9:13 st, 14:25 guy for 5th year of xc/outdoor track next year?

I am trying to find a way to say yes without it being blatant NCAA violation. The only way anyone can talk to him is if he starts the convo with them and them they can only respond with send me a release. Although his league may not allow 5th yeah NCAA still requires a release before a college can talk to him.

He started out as an 800/1500 guy and only ran xc his junior year (i guess he might have done it sophomore year as well) (hurt this year) as he's more of a track guy. He got healthy and ran 8:09 indoors this winter but then had his appendix out and thus is thinking about trying again outdoors next year as he's missed close to a month.

Yes. Is he only looking at schools who will give him a full ride? What are his grades like? (Asking from an academically competitive division one school.)

I'm not asking you to talk to him, just talk to me. He'll get the release on Monday but we don't know what schools to release him to if we don't know who is interested. I no longer have any affiliation with Cornell so you can talk to me. It's like calling a father or something.

The NCAA isn't getting involved in this one. Email me and there are no problems.

I forgot to say it's all last minute because he had appendicitis and thus isn't going to have an outdoor season.

As for pics, he has a very good looking all-american look.

Sounds like he'd be all-american material at D3...maybe he should look into Williams?

No fifth years allowed for DI to DIII transfers. And assuming he's American, there's only one master's program (art history) at Williams.

If he wants to go to altitude, the mountains of Colorado email the head coach at D2 powerhouse, Western State College (jmichel@western.edu). I know for a fact they would be very interested as I know people within the program well. He would fit in very well there times wise and with a bit of improvement could be an All-American in D2.

Is he graduating and then going to go to grad school to run?

Or is he going to graduate at this next school?

Strange to leave for a 5th year and get a diploma from a different school just to run.

He can run open meets unnattached and stay where he is.

I do this whenever my girlfriend needs to figure out something that's not Googleable.

I say, "Don't worry babe. I'll do it." Then I post on Letsrun and wait an hour. Then I go back and say, "Here you go. I figured it out. Just looked around for a while."

Can't you be granted a one-time exception in a 4-4 transfer from D1 to D3 as long as you were academically and athletically eligible at the time of the transfer?

Tell him to stop desperately holding onto a pointless dream/obsession and enter to enter the real world. That sounds harsh, but he'll realize it's the right move eventually.

talking to a father would also be an NCAA violation before the release is granted. You should encourage him to get a blanket release where he would be able to speak to anyone he chooses. otherwise you have to do it school by school.

East Carolina girls squad has done very well but they had good success with a 5th year guy that went from mid 8min 3000 to 7:57 in one year.
