Regarding the LR commentary on this being a promotional piece and not designate as such by Flotrack.
I originally viewed it either from this thread or a tweet.
Really enjoyed it, found it revealing and chilling, showing some of what runners go through in the cost of pain and struggle to try and reach the top and their goals.
And then at the end of the video, having the Brooks logo roll up was kind of a shock.
1. Well extremely well produced.
2. WTF, it's an advertisement.
On the other hand, I like a lot of what Brooks does to support the sport. They do a ton of great stuff.
The Brojo's, and LRC, however have a LEGIT point, and that is that Flotrack is playing fast and loose with FTC regulations -- and YOUR TRUST as viewers.
This could have been just a crappy obvious, manipulative ad.
Instead, it turns out to be a manipulative promo piece.
Anyone who reads this board knows that I point out when LRC is less than professional.
Flotrack deserves to be called out for being less than professional and deceptive.
At first I thought that the piece was a Fotrack Pro "Driven" piece that they had put up "for free" out of admiration for Davila.
Then it turns out to be an ad.
The ad was so good -- that it should have just been denoted as a promo piece.
It's a great promo piece/ad -- and Flotrack ought to have designated it as such.
Brooks, if they are listening, should require that Flotrack do so...
Whenever stuff like this comes up -- it just harkens to the many less than professional results Flotrack has given in promises and performance.
AND, it makes me wonder why or when the folks at Stanford and other places that are laying down and giving FT the rights to webcast -- are going to wake up and hold Flotrack to professional and ethical standards.
Sometimes I wonder if Flotrack will be around in 18months.
