That's the word coming from people on the inside in Knoxville. He should have known better than to take on the combined head position 3 years ago. Proves to be his undoing.

Great assistant coaches don't always translate into great head coaches...and it's too bad. Because IF he does loose his position, no one can argue that he was massively effective the years prior to him assuming the men's team.
Layne Anderson - Iowa former good asst terrible head
Walt Drenth - mi state former good asst terrible head
Wendell mckraven -former terrible head now good asst tx am
Most familiar with big ten but I'm sure the same story can be old in other conferences.
OldVol, I hope you know what you are talking about. He has single handedly dismantled a long and proud tradition. Bring back Vince Anderson and George Watts!!!!
Maybe the fact that the team has performed so unbelievably poorly the last two years that it has generated some outside press may have pushed the administration over the edge.

I wonder what will happen with some of the new assistant coaches that were just brought in if this rumor proves true.

Though i agree with the good asst part, would definitly have to disagree with the McCraven comment. Ive heard from a few who ran at Kent when he was the head, and while it sounds unanimous that he was unliked at the time, he still had good teams for a mid-major. A very strong jumps and throws program at the time as well.

I'd like to see Chuck Rohe brought back to coach.
Wendel McRaven did an outstanding job at Kent. The event coaches were all strong and did an outstanding job of recruiting and developing talent. He's been solid, if not outstanding at every place he's been to include: Alabama, Nebraska, Kent, Illinois, and now at Texas A & M.
WHo would be great replacements for JJ and his staff?

Where is Watts now?
ETSU Director of Cross and Track, men and women
Maybe UT will look the other way and hired L Johnson, fresh from his stint at Clemson.
Couldn't imagine Tennessee ponying up enough dough to pry Vince out of College Station
Bev Kearney is available.

What made his position so tight that he had to loosen it?
I heard Kevin Hadsell is getting this job.
I don't think he wants to be a head coach and I believe his family is in Texas.
Do we know this for sure? What inside people are we talking about?
The same washed up alums who have no life but to keep posting about JJ
Washed up? Sorry we gave so many years to build and carry on a proud tradition......to see it go down the tubes. If he did his job the SEC way and not Villanova way we'd be relevant. We would have supported him and his staff if they included the rich tradition and shown progress, it's not a personal attack on JJ but a desire to get back to our winning ways. If you support this staff then volunteer your time and get this back to where it needs to be!!
Tell us annoyed865, how is JJ getting along with the rebuilding? what positive is going on in K-town? Washed up though we may be, we have lives and still care about UT Track.
