Looks like Spence will be focusing on the 10k now and wants to prove she can run that standard on the track anyway:
"Actually, it fuels my fire to WANT to run the 10k. I see my goal of a mid 31 10k as reality for this season, but definitely plan on running and getting the mark⦠I want to actually earn it through a time that shows."

Neely has really taken her game to a whole new level. The Hansons have done a terrific job with her.

Ok it's simple , the have the A time standard , fast enough to compete but still have to make the team determined by USATF.
They now will have to run at nationals and finish near the top. Example if they finished 5th with 3rd and 4th place finishers not having A time standard they would get to go. -
If Estrada runs for the US, we can have up to 5 guys run worlds this year.
-
Estrada can NOT represent USA in any competition until 2 years after competing for another country. No chance in this years WC. If he represents Mexico this summer the 2 years starts over.

How do you figure that? We can't have more than 3 and only Ethiopia can have up to 4. -
Based on Neely Spence's article on the front page she still wants to run the time at Stanford so she can feel like she earned the A standard. Good for her for wanting to prove she could have gotten it on the track and not just settling for her XC results to prove she is ready.

I'm not sure that's right. If these three have the A standard then I think they form the team. As a medal winner from London, Rupp then gets 4th man.

Good god. Could a board get more confused by a simpler concept?
Spence, True and Derrick now have the A standard should they qualify to represent the USA at their trials. -

No, having the A standard guarantees nothing if one of them does not finish in the top three at US Champs. If they finish in the top 3, they go to Worlds, if not, you have to look at who finished in front of them and what qualifying standards those other finishers have. -
So the team then is Rupp plus the first three across the line who aren't Rupp? As long as they all have an A or B? I thought though the rule was something like 3 A or 1 B. If top 15 at world x-c gets you an A, don't each of these guys have to run a B at the trials to be considered for the team?

ethiopia gets 4 as ibrahim jeilian won the previous worlds in 2011.
1. winner of previous worlds in each event goes.
2. leader in each event in the previous diamond league goes
3. olympic medalist DO NOT get a bye to worlds
4. a country can have a maximus of 4 runners in an event.
5. if a country has the previous world champ and diamond league winner in that event, they can pick who gets the buy, and the other can still run if they are among the countrys other 3.
