Good for Craig to stand up for truth and decency. It's about time people questioned this political correctness gone mad.

I hope somebody called the whambulace.
Why have a junior race? The age cheating is so obvious and has been for decades. The best example was Joseph Nzau whose team lied about his age as a kid. Later he wanted masters records when he ran at '38', when he was really 40.
Fortunately, now our guys are not getting discouraged, sticking with it for a few years and getting closer over time.
I love the losers who try to make it like age cheating is not a big deal. It's cheating.
It's funny how they dig up a vase or a bone in the desert and tell you old it is but somehow 25 year olds are running junior. ( Wilfred Kirochi. 1988 world junior track for example)
Until these third world countries start keeping proper records they shouldn't be allowed to run junior.
Age cheating is a serious problem, but I see no reason to believe Gebriwhet isn't a junior. Sure he's a little rugged looking, but most of those kids have tough lives. Just because he's fast and there are a lot of age cheaters doesn't mean he is...he looks a LOT younger than Isaiah Koech did when he was a "junior," and the posted picture shows his terrible, yellowed teeth which add to the aged look but really mean nothing.
It's dangerous to assume. And Craig Nowak comes off like a whiney douche.

Yeah, because a guy who trained his whole life to make it to the World Junior Championships and is legitimately under 20 this calendar year can just train harder and will make it to 12:47-level ... just like nobody did ever.
I think Nowak's comment may be tongue in cheek. But also showing how unbelievably fast and competitive the junior race is.

shouldn't they get a ban for it?
I think that only happens after they check your IP address.
In the late 70's and throughout the 80's it was unheard of for junior age athletes to run world class senior age times. One by one, the superstar performances of athletes since then have turned out to be bogus.
The Ethiopian calendar is different; today in Adis Ababa it is 2006, that might cause some conversion problems but it is obviously not fair to junior age athletes to have senior age runners competing junior.

Gebrhiwet is listed as having been born in 1994, and since their calendar is seven years behind the Gregorian calendar, 1994 in Ethiopia would be 2001 on our calendar.
By the same token, how old do you take Gebrselassie to be if he was an overage junior?

I don't care if he's age cheating or not, he's slumming. The other juniors aren't in his league. Though it's probably wasn't his choice.
its not slumming if you are too old and don't belong there.. it's cheating..

so if he was born in 1994 on the Ethiopian calendar which is 7 years behind ours then he would be 25..
well that might explain this

Calendar argument can"t be it. however, I would not be surprised if HG is 42-43. Juniors should be more like the sprints,- there should be the occasional Kirani James, not 4 or 5 every year.
I don't see what the big deal is, this guy has been giving even the likes of Rupp a whooping, so i don't it matters to him who the opposition is, he just cant be defeated. Leave with it!!!

So, let's see if I am understanding your logic correctly.
So, you would see nothing wrong with Galen Rupp entering Oregon's High School State Championship Race? After all, he has given lots of pros a "whooping" so you don't see how it matters to him who the opposition is, right?
My wife thought I was joking when I said it was the junior race. Then said ''he looks like he's about 45'!
your wife is spot on.

Would a junior be allowed to run both races? Just a hypothetical - I know it wouldn't be a good thing to do.
