Next up: Bernard Lagat!

It is pointless to have competitions like the Olympics if countries like Qatar and Bahrain buy their athletes.
Don't get me wrong, I have high respect for someone like Meb or Mo, who immigrated to the US/UK before they were successful runners.
Someone like Lagat, competing for two countries at the Olympics, not so much.

+10. Also he tested positive for EPO so I dislike him even more for his doping.

womens 1500m seems to be horrendous for doping
No more horrendous than any other event. Just horrendous at avoiding detection.
Oh yeah, maybe you should read this:
We know the 2 Turks in that race were juiced
The Russian was also juiced, been busted before, no shock there
what are the chances Rowbury gets a silver? gold?
Leo will likely be upgraded too, even 2008 1500m olympic champ Asbel Kiprop thinks makloufi is dirty, see comment section -

Just a list, you decide:

Great list.
There would be a few less if you removed the footnote references, so roughly on the list there are
82 Americans
77 Russians
55 Indians (this for a country with few qualifiers ever)
28 Germans (East and West) on the list.
27 French
26 Moroccans
25 Chinese
22 Kenyans
18 Greeks
17 from Belarus
16 Bulgarians
13 Italians
10 Canadians
8 Turks
8 United Kingdom
6 Norwegians
5 Algerians
3 Irish
0 Mexicans
We are the champs.

just got me thinking there
don't want to cast aspersions
but if 1,2,3,4 from helsinki 2005 were all dopers
how the hell did kelly holmes beat this lot clean
1 Kelly Holmes Great Britain 3:57.90 NR
2 Tatyana Tomashova Russia 3:58.12 PB
3 Maria Cioncan Romania 3:58.39 PB
4 Natalya Yevdokimova Russia 3:59.05 PB
5 Daniela Yordanova Bulgaria 3:59.10PB
6 Lidia Chojecka Poland 3:59.27 SB
7 Anna Jakubczak Poland 4:00.15 PB
8 Elvan Abeylegesse Turkey 4:00.67
9 Carmen Douma-Hussar Canada 4:02.31 PB
10 Natalia Rodriguez Spain 4:03.01 SB
11 Olga Yegorova Russia 4:05.65
12 Hasna Benhassi morocco 4:12.90
and most of them on PBs
Everybody knows that Kelly Holmes was doped to the gills. The change in her physique was hilarious, getting that waxy fruit sheen of 'roid user, never mind EPO or whatever. And the Brits are hilarious in defending her, just rabid. LOL
Loe keep dreaming for the Gold, never gonna happen , makhloufi is clean and will keep his gold. That's for sure
Without sarcasm I am happy America has the most Drug convictions. This means we are at least catching some of the dopers. It is creating a situation where you feel like you can get caught if you do it and its not worth it. With all of the Kenyans getting caught Americans are going to become a lot more competitive once everything gets clean.
We need more drug testing nation wide!
100% support out of competition testing and lots of it!!

i guess we can say congratulations to the new womens 1500 olympic gold medalist in the 2012 womens 1500, 20 year old gamze bulut.
note when the 2016 olympics come around mary cain will be 20 same age as gamze bulut and cain at age 16 already has faster lifetime personal best's at 800 AND 3000 than bulut.
British Announcer called it the second it happened, very subtly.
idiot
kipsiele has run 7'54 & woud actually be actual wr holder if he'd got some decent pacing that day to 2k - even sub-boulami !!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e14yveBfj5Uhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ng2qWly-CPc( wabbit dropped out too early & went too fast anyways 1st km at 2'37 )
he doesn't get thru kenyan trials because he doesn't want to pace 1/2 dozen guys who are not-that-bad to last lap - one went 7'53 - then loses badly on kick
in a euro country he woud be an auto selection - no trials needed
then let him try for a medal at a global
here at least he's only pacing 2 guys who aren't "not that bad" to the bell
he'd at least have shot at bronze
olympics shoud never be about nationalities
just the best on the planet
yes
that was wrong
an independent flag wouda sorted this out, but IOC can't ask for any sort of media or sponsorship fees from someone of "no country" - no one to bill
ventolin^3 wrote:

The Olympics always has and always will be about nationalities.
Your statement flies in the face of the ideals that the Games themselves were founded upon.
The Olympics should be the break from the standard of individual glory not the continuance thereof.
Obviously, you don't feel that way (hence the inevitable "idiot" or "moron" or "drivel" that I'm sure your response will start out with...), But I assure you that your stance on the Olympics and why athletes should want to take part in them is very much the minority

None of the ethiopians running for turkey ...
Now they've taken over the turkey trots, too? Can't they leave a few scraps for the rest of the world?
Lagat never tested positive for EPO. The "B" sample results did not corroborate the "A" sample findings, and a closer examination revealed that the "A" sample wasn't exactly positive either.

err...
looks like someone from avery brundage school of archaic crap
if you win an indidividual gold, you win it for
you
you then remember few secs later you better say
"i won it for us ( insert country )"
so you make sure domestic companies will pay you ++ zlotys/shillings/shekels/denarii/etc for
scrubbing floors/cuddling mutts who chomped tinned good-vermin chow/using only "the" butt-wipe roll/etc
