Weather is definitely good for team USA, but it still seems highly unlikely for any of them to win. I wouldn't be surprised by Derrick in the top 10 at this point, but his odds of winning are almost definitely still negligible.

Ben True lives & trains in N.H. and has been a top xc skier. I would think his chances on a snow covered cross country course would be pretty good.

Obviously, as evidenced by the way they got creamed running in the snow in Boston in '92.

This guy's channel has some world cross races on it, including the 1992 one where Lynn Jennings won and Vicki Huber was 4th.

What would be your footwear of choice for these snowy conditions? I can't imagine going sockless in a pair of Tumbos would be much fun.
Is there going to be any live coverage available in Canada?
My son is team mates with Ben Flanagan who is going to be running the Junior race for Canada. He won OFSAA xc by 30 seconds and is a beast in snow/hills. Any chance he cracks the top 10/20 in this race? Top North American high schooler? I was reading the IAAF junior race preview but it focused mainly on the Kenyan guy who is going to destroy the field.
I Hope Ben runs well, but unfortunately the junior ranks are rife with age cheats. It's a joke that Gebriwhet (Ethiopian) is listed as 18 - he's more like 23 years old. As talented as Flanagan is, Mo Ahmed was dominating ofsaa/CDN XC by a minute, yet, he was struggling to crack the top-20 in world juniors.
As for Live Streams -

I'm not sure how available this is to Canadians and Americans, but more details will come as the event approaches
I've always thought XC should be a Winter Olympic sport. Does this support my argument?
Well, Palo Alto isn't in So Cal, but he's right about it not going any snow.

That's quite a commute to Palo Alto.
