that will remain an indisputable fact for about six years, and then...

Just using your own formula to show you it is flawed. Sorry dude, you lost.
ok, i'll explain more slowly for the sarcasm and analogy challenged: regardless of whether you think lagat is juiced or not, i do NOT belong in a comparison with him (or gates, or bolt, or any of my relative miler contemporaries like holman, spivey, scott, herrington, mcmullen, falcon, etc.). but if you automatically extrapolate his times as a 36/37 year old out to his 45th birthday, i hate to say, it just doesn't work that way. and for that, i'm glad, or there'd be no point in lacing them up anymore. i'm still running at 45 and having a blast--only time will tell if lagat decides to do the same.
as for the older hobby joggers and 80 year old grandmas, if usatf wants to recognize records for random older hobby joggers and one mile walks by 80 year old females who've had kids who've had kids, good on 'em; it just gives me something else to chase in my twilight years (though the latter record would require at least some surgical assistance).
that's still my story, and i'm still sticking to it...
I see the problem here.
Socal Cush = Saint beyond reproach
Lagat = Evil Doper, Liar, Devil
Posters here just have to accept that simply honest fact.
45 is hell of old!
That makes no sense to say "hell of old." Do you mean "hella" old? "Hella" was a good California slang term a while back. Is it still used now?

I always wish I lived right near dullards like this clown, so I could punch them in the face when they show their true colors.
Alas, I do not.
Great race Cush! What an inspration to all of us at any age! Hope you keep on trucking as long as you enjoy it!
BTW: congratulations...
What were your 1500/mile times when you were 37? Surely, they were probably still very competitive.
Bravo! Well done! Fan-effing-tastic!
Great race, Christian! Very happy for you.
As for surgical assistance, I believe a former Equalizer/Wildcat we both know is going down the medical route at UCLA. He'll probably cut you (pun intended) a good deal if you really want to pursue that 80 year old grandma record.

i was relatively slow in my 30s--trained only with my high school kids and my own children and rarely raced, so at best i ran maybe 30-40 miles/week (i now do about 60-70). i doubt i could have broken 4:30 for 1600 for most of those years...
Congratulations Cush. Very inspiring. Are you even at your sharpest yet and are you aiming for a 5,000 now? The only disappointment this weekend was that the Bruins lost to Oregon.
well done!!!
As usual the cowardly and anonymous running board community craps on the parade.
call me maybe for the 5k. it's extremely difficult for me to maintain fitness after carlsbad/april once my high school track season is in full swing. for example, thursday and saturday this week yielded a whopping 2 miles in mileage. ok for racing friday night and tapering towards carlsbad the first weekend of april, but not ok for training for a 5k in may (oxy invite), which would be my only real chance at the 5k record. i think i'm in sub-14:30 shape now, but scheduling required me to pick which record i'd pursue. that said, if i can 1) maintain health after carlsbad (a struggle the last two years); and, 2) find a way to maintain training during the high school season, yes, i will attempt to go after pete's record...
I figured you'd be aiming for sub-14:30. What about Mt. Sac?

Alas, I do not live by "newname." Before he would up his fist he would find himself flat on his back.
Socal Cush claimed he was greater than Lagat.
If, socal cush > lagat because lagat is not 45, therefore grandma walker age 80 > socal cush because socal cush is not 80.
Socal cush should never have said anything about Lagat. He failed with his comparison.

Dude, just be thankful you can run at all and get out the door. Cush's assertion was fine to the extent that Lagat has not yet run 3:55 at age 45. And he may never accomplish the feat. He has pushed in his 30s, while Cush didn't fry his legs during that decade of life. Plus, Cush can probably go even faster.
