I totally agree, the marathon team for Rio is wide open. Ritz, Meb, Hall and Abdi were the only Americans to break 2:11 last year. 2:11 is equal to about 27:55 which 11 Americans ran faster than and 13:27 which 12 guys ran faster than. If Hall gets healthy he can make the team without running his best or he could pull a Meb and win. I doubt he sees 2:06 again but high 2:07 to high 2:09 is possible.
Please do not compare Hall to Martin Lel. Hall is an excellent American runner, but Martin Lel, 3-time London and 2-time NYCM champ, is one of the best marathoners ever.
