Have you been in touch with Walt Murphy?
Marc Bloom is also a good source for NYC schoolboy info.
Good luck with your project.

I heard once that Christine Curtin's coach would tie a rope around her waist and attach it/her to his car for fartlek runs. Definitely not something a coach could get away w/ nowadays.

Probably not that hard to find John C. if you're running out in Eugene, OR. Stayed there I guess after college, and maybe went into antiques business. My experience is the old runners who are not actively connected in online do not reply to invitations to dwell in the past, but I'll give it a try.

Yeah, she would have ripped the front bumper off, because she was well built. A coach today would definitely not want to do that to his car, but dragging that extra bumper weight behind her on the practice fartleks probably did help her set all those records.
I graduated in '82, ran in '82 Millrose HS mile. Not sure if that helps but feel free to email

Correct. Post if you want to get in touch with Carlotti. I don't know him personally, but I am friends some his HS teammates.
These guys were contemporaries of mine although I wasn't running back in high school I was a skier and played a little golf. Miles was a legend-I went to the high school one town over, same class 1983. Anybody know what happened with his running after Georgetown?
one time this kid did a kickflip over the steeple pit

Hope to find out soon. Don't have info on Irish running after GTown, though I believe he has a son in HS, Miles Jr., out in CA who can run a bit. Not a huge percentage of guys who run that competitively after college. Something to do with making money unfortunately, or maybe raising families.

HR, if you know of any guys who might have a connection to JC, I would appreciate it if you could send me a contact. I do have JC's phone number, but I prefer not to call anyone out of the blue and would prefer an email intro option. And this is a very NY slanted article and not sure whether he would want to contribute.
Fake news for sure. This has to be a joke!
