Everyone is jumping to conclusions before any facts come out.
It's very well this won't be that hard of a case to prove.
One piece of evidence will likely determine the whole thing.
The key question to me is - what time did the dead girl enter his place of residence?
The key thing to remember is the murder happened at 4 am.
1) If the development's security reveals the woman entered the complex well before 4 am, then Oscar Ps only possibly defense of "I was surprised and thought I was protecting myself" doesn't work. If she's there all night, he's done for. I don't want to hear an excuse of "We got in a fight. She slept in another bedroom and then surprised me by coming into mine."
Your going to have to have some really sick lawyer to claims insomnia, sleeping pills etc. Good luck with that.
2)If the development's security reveals the woman entered the complex at 4 am, then Oscar Ps only possibly defense of "I thought I was protecting myself" seems A LOT more believable, particularly in South Africa. Since he lives in such a safe place, it's going to take a little bit of lawyering but very doable.

PS. It's definitely different over there. I know a South African guy who told me on his farm he heard rustling outside his window. He grabbed a shot gun and started firing. That was his first reaction. Shoot first - ask questions later.
I said, "My God, wouldn't you try to scare them away first?"
Him: "No. what if they kill me first."
Me: "What happens if you had hit him?"
He's like "We'd bury the body on the farm."
